TheGhostOfRandySavage
Possibility Bioshock comics coming soon...I don't know if I'm allowed to actually talk about it yet or not, but I was told by someone "in the biz"
radiatorhums
Hadn't picked up my comics in three weeks, ended up leaving the store with 22 books I also grabbed Fraction's Hawkeye Omnibus, ODY-C Vol 1., Southern Bastards Vol 1 HC and Two Brothers. It's shitty here, don't plan on doing much this weekend besides reading comics!
jerseydave77
I have em all but I am so behind on all the Star Wars books. Overwhelming man.
ditc586
If anyone finds a copy of Neon Joe Werewolf Hunter in their local shop and wants to pick it up for me, I would appreciate it. My local didn't get it in
jlobban
i've given up on trying to keep up with the Star Wars books. i liked Shattered Empire, but Chewbacca was pretty disappointing (aside from the artwork) so i stopped getting that one. and there's just so freaking many other ones. Marvel / Disney cash grab.
stl_ben
Cash Grab ...so tired of seeing that phrase. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean no one does. Just because people make money (or even a basic living) on these things does not equal cash grab.
museummouth
Everything Star Wars now is a cash grab. Hell I saw jewelry commercial yesterday for a "Star Wars" diamond necklace.
TheGhostOfRandySavage
It's funny, I waited my whole life for there to be more Star Wars merch...and now I couldn't care less because it's none of the characters I care about. Give me boba fett shit!
stl_ben
Everything Star Wars now is a cash grab. Hell I saw jewelry commercial yesterday for a "Star Wars" diamond necklace. So is everything being sold ever a cash grab? aka people trying to sell a product so they can earn a living?
museummouth
So is everything being sold ever a cash grab? aka people trying to sell a product so they can earn a living? No but tacking a popular name on unrelated products is. Plus over doing other related products. There doesn't need to be like 30 SW comics out. stl_ben
No but tacking a popular name on unrelated products is. Plus over doing other related products. There doesn't need to be like 30 SW comics out. There is currently 4 Star Wars Comics: Star Wars, Kanan, Darth Vader, Chewbacca (miniseries) . Which is pretty much in step with how many has been out at any given time over the last ten years when there wasn't a movie and when Dark Horse still owned the rights. And not sure how any of these 4 star wars comics are unrelated.....
museummouth
Yeah and there's another 8 set to come out early 2016. Lando, Leia, another Vader book, Obi-Wan..
TheGhostOfRandySavage
I never got super into Star Wars comics, but I have to go with Ben on this. If they're solidly written and give fun backstory you can't get anywhere else, I'm fine with the comics, however many they want to put out. stl_ben
stl_ben
Yeah and there's another 8 set to come out early 2016. Lando, Leia, another Vader book, Obi-Wan.. Lando and Leia were miniseries that have already ended. There is not another Vader book but there is a Vader crossover coming called Vader Down which will take place in the Vader & regular Star Wars book. Yes there is an Obi-Wan miniseries coming that will come out after the Chewbacca one ends. They usually roll through miniseries so when one ends another begins as I think there is actually another one between Chewbacca and Obi. This isn't just Star Wars though, it's any successful franchise; Batman, Wolverine, Adventure Time...etc.
radiatorhums
I read that first issue of Vader Down and it bummed me out that it's a cross-over. I hate that shit Book itself was pretty enjoyable. Vader's force powers seem pretty bumped up, which I found fun. I like Aaron better when he's writing for original characters though. jlobban
Cash Grab ...so tired of seeing that phrase. Just because you don't like something doesn't mean no one does. Just because people make money (or even a basic living) on these things does not equal cash grab. i get the phrase is overused, but dude, understand i LOVE me some Star Wars, but it's insane how much stuff is out right now. Marvel is going totally overkill between Star Wars, Inhumans, Avengers, and X-Men. every single series has more than one title, and each title seemingly has 2-3 characters with spinoffs that all intertwine... so as a consumer - who loves the product overall - it sure as shit feels like a cash grab. Avengers, X-men, and Star Wars have all had more than one series for the last 30 years, with spin offs of their popular characters. Sure Inhumans are new to this group, but that's due to the brand phasing out Fantastic Four and X-Men which they don't have rights to. I would see it as a "cash grab" if this happened over night, but not sure you can call a long standing business model something that is just trying to cash in at the moment. kurtz
Yeah, the number of current Star Wars books is business as usual with comics. And business as usual when it comes to Star Wars anything. Hell, there are 3 different versions of the Star Wars mac and cheese boxes!
