dreamover
The Vinyl District has just released a FREE app that uses GPS to let you know where the nearest record stores are. I don't know about you, but I have been wanting something like this for quite a while. Here's a link to a website about it: http://www.thevinyldistrict.com/storefront/2011/12/introducing-the-tvd-gps-based-record-store-locator-app-for-your-iphone-or-android/ iTunes link: http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-vinyl-district/id478314117?mt=8 Android link: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.shoutem.n38666

kriss
I've mainly used the Yelp app to serve this purpose up until now but I'll definitely be downloading this to try out.

steviex2shoes
This is a pretty sweet app. I'm visiting family in NY and looked for a store and apparently there's one only 4 miles away called The Vinyl Lounge. I think I'm going there this morning while everyone is still at work.

Just an indicator of the drought I am moving in to.

steventangent
works fine in chicago. Yeah, works great in Chicago for me as well. Just an indicator of the drought I am moving in to. Detroit has lost some stores recently (you missed out on Car City), but there is People's on Woodward, and if you can swing Ann Arbor, there are a handful of really great shops there. Encore Records is one of the most well known shops in the country, and while it's further away, Lansing has Flat Black and Circular, which is also pretty well known. twelvetwenty
This rules, though it's not entirely accurate. It lists stores by me that have closed.

tjb81
Hello all - Thanks for the great reception for the The Vinyl District Record Store Locator. Yes, its true - Canadian stores will be added early next year. I am already adding UK stores, and expect to be adding some Australian stores soon. If you'd like to contribute, we'd love to hear from you. If you notice we're missing any stores, email us at info[@]thevinyldistrict.com. You can also contact us on Facebook here - https://www.facebook.com/tvdrecordstorelocator. Important: All we need is the store name, street address, and website or facebook URL if possible. If you like the app, please tell your friends, and leave a positive review in the app stores. Thanks and happy holidays!
adamlikesmusic
So this app acknowledges that I'm in Phoenix, AZ, but the closest record stores it shows me are 250 miles away in Las Vegas. I'd understand if there were stores in Phoenix that weren't in their system, but they list the Zia Records locations in Las Vegas, so I'd imagine they have the Zia Records in Phoenix listed as well. (Among the handful of other record stores that are far closer than Las Vegas...)
