admin
We are putting the final touches and are almost ready to release Part 1 of the next Vinyl Collective Feature - A "Collection Manager". It is essentially a Trade List that is built into your Vinyl Collective Profile. Here are some cool features and info on how this will work: Building Your Trade List - We Made it SIMPLE! Just like most trade lists you will have a Wants, Haves and Sales/Trade section. To add a release to either section you will: - Add a Release from Search Field: You will be able to add a product by searching the artist and/or album title. The search will pull data from Discogs as well as allow you to create a release if it is not listed on discogs. Once a member creates a release it will stay in the database and appear in everyones search. This will cut down on the time you spend creating these lists! - Edit Release from Search Field: Once you pick the release you want to add to your list you are able to edit certain aspects of that release to customize it to the variant you have. Sell / Trade Products Amongst VC Users Sell - There are two ways to sell a product. You can list it for "Sale" on your profile. You can enter a price or ask for offers. The second way is to list it up on Ebay and enter that URL. Users will be able to automatically click to the Ebay Page. You can list it on eBay as well as accept offers from VC members. Note: For the time being, all sales on VC will occur the same way as they have for the last while, through the Private Message system. The new system will just create an easier way to communicate with buyers as well as help connect buyers with sellers and vice versa. Trade: If you have an item for trade you can enter what you are willing to trade for! We are building some additional features that will NOT be launched just yet that will enhance the buy/ sell / trade options. Overall, it will help connect those who are looking for an item with a seller and vice versa. Stay tuned! Additional Features: Autopost to Sell/Trade Section On VC: Once you have compiled a sell and/or trade list there is a button that helps you to autopost what is up for sale/trade in the Vinyl Collective Sales/Trade/Wants section. You are able to edit this post to add more details before putting live. You will be able to do this for your "Wants" section as well. Post to Facebook/ Twitter: You will be able to easily post your collection to your Facebook and Twitter. As well if you are selling something or looking for something you can post that to Twitter and Facebook. We anticipate on launching this feature in the next week or two in a beta mode. Because we are using a combination of Discogs as well as allowing you to upload your own products (If not on discogs) we anticipate there may be a few small glitches to work out. Once the system is up and running smoothly we will begin working on Part 2 of this feature! Part 2 will focus on building a database that makes the buying, selling and trading process easier. Part 2 will also add new ways for buyers and sellers to connects. cwhitmuzik

jhulud
Interesting. I'll take it for a spin. But I will always rely on my Excel spreadsheet uploaded to Google Docs. It's more conducive to my OCD needs.
tittus
Wow, this is actually a pretty good idea. Impressed.

beardacus
Stoked to see this, especially when DF's been utter poop recently.

3arl
I'm guessing that there is no way just to import from Dead Format. I guess I'd rather move tradelist info now instead of when my collection is bigger though.

burntwolf
what's the benefit of using it here instead of just doing it right on the discogs site?
nivek87
what's the benefit of using it here instead of just doing it right on the discogs site? what's the advantage of having your phone, mp3 player, and internet all on one device? convenience. konk
Which will be stored in the search field, the generic release or the variant? When adding information to the search field, will a user have to specify a variant? I hate when I find a release on Discogs and the pressing info is in the notes, not separate listings. rudeboydh
Love this idea! I barely have one on DF started, so this'll be great!
danny
We are hard at work on the final beta release (which you will all get to use and give feedback on as long as you’re a VC member). No time to answer question but it’s going to have all the features most other trade lists are missing (including easy of use) and are so needed! VC is the perfect place to go nuts with this…so why not! nivek87
