mindovermatter
What albums that defined that genre besides glassjaw and the deftones came out before finch? Boysetsfire comes to mind immediately. deletedunknown
IanRees
Boysetsfire comes to mind immediately. I don't really include bsf in that genre. I'm thinking the used, static lullaby, my chemical romance, senses fail etc.

mindovermatter
Awwww c'mon. BSF was doing the singing/screaming thing, their most popular album was released on Victory, and they spawned millions of bands that did something similar. The only real difference is that they weren't *technically* on a major label. deletedunknown
mindovermatter
There is also Thursday - "Waiting" came out a few years prior to the scene blowing up deletedunknown
mindovermatter
And let's not forget Refused. All of these bands har been trying to re-write "The Shape Of Punk To Come" for decades now. themeconspiracy and deletedunknown

The only real difference is that they weren't *technically* on a major label. Just because they were singing/screaming doesn't mean they were the same genre. Bsf will always be a hardcore band in my eyes, as much as I love finch I would never put them as hardcore. I suppose Thursday is a valid argument but still not the same in my eyes. IanRees
Refused is not even close to the same, similar to bsf but not finch.
zacaroo21
And let's not forget Refused. All of these bands har been trying to re-write "The Shape Of Punk To Come" for decades now. That's what came to mind for me. Also, why discredit Deftones and Glassjaw? Both of those are arguably much more iconic than Finch ever was
andrewlucas
There is also Thursday - "Waiting" came out a few years prior to the scene blowing up The first few bands I ever heard after listening to only punk were Thursday, taking back Sunday, the used, and finch. They all kind of transitioned me into the music I like now. Deftones have always been great. I've liked them during all my phases of music. mjglor
The quality of this release is is superb (minus the cover... But some of us will have that resolved by Patrick). The sound is great, the labels aren't messed up (at least on mine), and it looks great. I'm happy with it.
