Nice one. This feels like one of those releases that you just need to swallow hard and give a shot. If you miss it and like it, you'll be pissed to pay eBay prices. If you hate it, well shit, it has enough Brand New connection that someone will take it.

Don't use logic with me jerseymoddave.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no music on the side with the etching, so not what we're talking about.

Etchings are nothing new/unusual.  It is unusual to have etchings on the same side as the grooves.

"The 12-inch single of Jack White’s “Sixteen Saltines” comes complete with a playable etching on the b-side (designed by George Ingram), a cover of U2’s “Love is Blindness.” Truly a sight to behold, the etching depicts Third Man’s iconic logo and the grooves of the record play through the image, presenting consumers with the world’s first-ever playable etched record®.This is an entirely different process (and look) from your Styx and Split Enz records from the 80’s. No lasers, holograms, or rainbows are involved in this playable etching."

The etching for the Shone record doesn't seem to be playable and they also don't mention anything about it being playable.  It's just along the outside edge.

okay, i was just correcting you for being wrong.

Or me, you know ;)

Yeah, still different however, as this is a non-playable etching, as mentioned.

I'm curious how the third-man record effect quality?  Seems to me that it would cause issues with groove depth/skating/etc.
