kylet
Sorry if this has already been posted. Was posting hoping Travis would read this. Just moved to the Boston area and none of the stores around here carry vinyl. Most the stores back home in Buffalo had vinyl? Just wondering if you could share a list of stores that do carry vinyl. Wondering if there are any with in reasonable driving distance. Thanks.

sergeantscruffy
As a fellow Boston area resident, I can tell you the closest Hot Topic that carries vinyl is in Holyoke, which is not close. Where in the Boston area did you move to? I could probably recommend some other places to pick up some vinyl.

alogical
Hot Topic would be the last place I would look for records if I moved to Boston. generally speaking, Newbury Comics usually has a very good selection but I feel it is very pricey. You can get some of the same stuff at Hot Topic on a limited variant for less. Then again, the HT at a mall right down the street from me has one copy of Bob Marley-Legend and Sgt Pepper's. It all really depends I guess. Some stores are great and some have nothing. However I agree, I'm sure there are many great places in Boston that aren't stores like HT. xfedupx
Please tell me Holyoke is pronounced like okey dokey. haha I actually used to work at that mall...it's Hole-yolk and while we're on the top of funny MA city names Worcestor is Wis-ter, not Wor-ches-ter alogical
JoeShlabotnik
Unfortunately, the Holyoke vinyl selection has dramatically dropped over the last year. No Boys Night Out or Fall Out Boy made their way here and now there are just like 5 copies of Siamese Dream.
tape
holy-oak sadly. Wrong. Hole-yoke. Hot Topic would be the last place I would look for records if I moved to Boston. An especially good reason is that there are no Hot Topics in Boston. The nearest ones are like 25-30 minutes away. A better reason is that none of them carry vinyl anyway. jhook
To repeat what has already been said, why don't you buy vinyl at the roughly 1,000 other places that actually have a better selection than Hot Topic. Where did you move too?
jhook
So many places here that are pronounced different or sound weird when anyone from out of state says them. Peabody Braintree Revere Yarmouth Kingston Worchester
dantheriver
I'm sure he just wants to know due to the occasional hot topic exclusive. I doubt he's dumb enough to think HT is the best place to go to buy records considering at best they might have 50 releases in store vs the potential thousands at a dedicated record store. moonbeams
nivek87
Holyoke Mall Holyoke MA only store in MA that carried Thrice Vheissu from what i just checked out in the thrice vheissu store listings thread travis made awhile back. should be a good indicator that many of the others don't carry vinyl because that went out to a lot of stores. 213041284s
Should we just make a master list of HT's that carry vinyl? All the one's I've been to in Jersey have a decent selection
Guest
it's not holy-oak. hole-yoke is closer. actually, no one really pronounces the l. it's more like hoyyoke. and the selection blows. i love that that discussion just happened. and the pronunciation of worcester actually made sense to me one day when i was super stoned and headed down the pike. it's a combo of 'worce' and 'ster'. but with the accent, the r gets lost. Peabody Braintree Revere Yarmouth Kingston Worchester my personal favorite mispronunciation is Haverhill Haverhill and Billerica are the best. jhook's list is, excepting Worcester, basically ones I don't see being weird at all. What's different about now locals and non-locals pronounce Kingston? or Braintree? I spent about 11 years living on the Cape and I don't see what the issue with Yarmouth is either, and you'd think I'd have heard tourists pronouncing that one funny if they did it.
