Sorry if this has already been posted. Was posting hoping Travis would read this. Just moved to the Boston area and none of the stores around here carry vinyl. Most the stores back home in Buffalo had vinyl? Just wondering if you could share a list of stores that do carry vinyl. Wondering if there are any with in reasonable driving distance. Thanks.

Hot Topic would be the last place I would look for records if I moved to Boston.

generally speaking, Newbury Comics usually has a very good selection but I feel it is very pricey. You can get some of the same stuff at Hot Topic on a limited variant for less. Then again, the HT at a mall right down the street from me has one copy of Bob Marley-Legend and Sgt Pepper's. It all really depends I guess. Some stores are great and some have nothing. However I agree, I'm sure there are many great places in Boston that aren't stores like HT.

holy-oak

sadly.

Wrong. Hole-yoke.

An especially good reason is that there are no Hot Topics in Boston. The nearest ones are like 25-30 minutes away.

A better reason is that none of them carry vinyl anyway.

it's not holy-oak. hole-yoke is closer. actually, no one really pronounces the l. it's more like hoyyoke.

and the selection blows.

i love that that discussion just happened.

and the pronunciation of worcester actually made sense to me one day when i was super stoned and headed down the pike. it's a combo of 'worce' and 'ster'. but with the accent, the r gets lost.

So many places here that are pronounced different or sound weird when anyone from out of state says them.

Peabody

Braintree

Revere

Yarmouth

Kingston

Worchester

my personal favorite mispronunciation is Haverhill

Haverhill and Billerica are the best.

jhook's list is, excepting Worcester, basically ones I don't see being weird at all. What's different about now locals and non-locals pronounce Kingston? or Braintree?

I spent about 11 years living on the Cape and I don't see what the issue with Yarmouth is either, and you'd think I'd have heard tourists pronouncing that one funny if they did it.
