The Vool
Should have done something like this with "Takk..."!
markok
Probably will sell out in 6 months really, not one of their best.
scottyrobotty
I disagree. I love this album. I bought it within a minute or so of seeing their tweet about it yesterday. Hopefully that means I'll get a low number but I doubt it. Luckily I had the money in my paypal already.

daegor
Probably will sell out in 6 months really, not one of their best. Dude, easily their best album, hands down. I can't justify the price, but I'm jealous of anyone who snags a copy.
markok
When it comes to vinyl, Valtari is THE album everyone must get. Dont get me wrong, Kveikur is great too, but its too "alternative" sounding, not much "post rock" left (which I always loved from them the most). ntslash
As much as I want this, it seems like an awful way to listen to the album. Daniel Dopp

brentoage
Valtari is great but both of the copies that I purchased sound like absolute garbage (1 US and 1 EURO). The EURO press is certainly better, but still... almost ruins the experience for me.
markok
What are you talking about exactly, surface noise?

markok
We have been through this before, I think. I have the EU press (I think its pressed at Optimal in Germany) and it sounds great, some surface noise but thats it. I have the US press also but I have never played it - the jacket printing quality is poorer and flimsier, the record isnt 180g either, the EU one is 180g. markok
Well, I just listened to EU press of Valtari again and it sounds amazing. The surface noise on a lot of the tracks is intentional (the noise is even on the CD!) and that loud passage on Varud is supposed to be distorted (again, same distortion on the CD!). Hell, the whole album is just one big ambient noise, so I dont get it how can it even sound bad on any setup? johnc37
brianmorgante
This box set is insane, I'd love to hear the instrumental versions of these songs, great idea!
rickydenim
I couldn't resist. $180 shipped to Aus though. Keen to hear the instrumental versions plus have the tracks at 45rpm, should sound amazing. I do love me some silk screening too.
scottyrobotty
For those of you not springing for this and who still want to hear the instrumental versions. Sigur Rós has the instrumentals up on their soundcloud page. daegor

I'd kill for an instrumental version of like every Sigur Ros record... brianmorgante
davepriz
their music is basically instrumental as is considering the vocals are background gibberish. wouldn't see much of difference personally. kannibal
Guest
Understanding the lyrics or not, the vocals are still at the forefront when I listen to them and I am not a fan of his voice or that style of singing. His guitar playing, on the other hand, is amazing. It took me a long time to get past his singing and be able to enjoy them. I definitely understand people enjoying it but it just isn't my thing. Although I find myself singing along to them probably more than any other band.
ntslash
This is sold out on the main SIgur Ros page, but there are still some left on XL. Still tempted, but not convinced.
