  1. Yeah, with a Project Phono Box before the Bose. The Bose is a temporary measure, it's good in terms of space. I need to get a decent amp and floor speakers.
  2. Thanks. I'm slowly building up... I am trying to stick to some principles like only buying albums that are meaningful to me, or that I really love (original pressings if possible, unless they sound bad and there is a really nice sounding repress). But the odd impulse buy creeps in. I sort of have it under control, hah.
  3. Thanks, I had read that thread. I can't go the wall mount route at the moment. So, for wood floors Sorbothane feet > brass cone feet?
  4. Nice and basic setup. Just moved house, so I figured it was a good opportunity to take photos while the new area was uncluttered. Also added a photo with the a vinyl print I use as a placeholder when I don't have a record out.
  5. I’ve moved into a new house and have been having issues with the needle on my turntable jumping when I walk around (wooden floors). I have a Pro-ject 1.2 with an OM10 cartridge. The turntable is sitting on top of an Expedit unit. Photo of setup below… (forgive the Bose!) I have reset the tone arm balance and anti-skate weight. I have also added a little extra downforce (17 – recommended is 15). This helped a little, but it still jumps a lot. I am going to make a table to sit the turntable on out of granite. I have found some granite that is about an inch thick, now I am just looking for some feet for it. I have found these on eBay, which of these would be better? Or is there something else I should be looking at? http://www.ebay.com/itm/301714372544?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/252073598090?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.com/itm/151623927030?_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Also, is epoxy the best way to attach the feet to the granite? ...or, do i just go with Sorbothane feet like these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/4-SORBOTHANE-SORBO-2in-50mm-VIBRATION-ISOLATION-FEET-PODS-50D-NEW-TURNTABLE-/250901628930?hash=item3a6ae70802 Thanks!
  6. Sweet, thanks for the heads up! I figured if we waited long enough something would pop up and I wouldn't have to fork out eBay prices.
  7. This. Also. I just did a move. I found some sturdy boxes that were around 12x12x14. They fit basically one cube of an expedit. Packed the extra space in the box with t-shirts. Done.
  8. Siamese Dream is 22 years old today! This colour is pretty sweet. One of kind :/ Source: http://www.smashingpumpkinsnexus.com/#!Memorabilia-Monday-Siamese-Dream-Multicolor-12?-Vinyl/c7ba/55b782f80cf228fd5ebabde3 Also:How did multicolour pressing come into existence? It was 2002 when a representative of a quite reputable music shop in the US managed to obtain this multicolour vinyl from a UK pressing-plant employee. This employee “made it for himself on his lunch break or something”, or at least this is what the buyer, from the UK, was told. Shortly afterwards, one of the representatives of this music shop was flying from the US to London to visit a local record fair, and decided, with the value of the vinyl in mind, to take the train all the way up to Oxford to present the buyer (a University student) with the vinyl in person. A few months ago however, this UK collector decided it was time to part with (most of) his Smashing Pumpkins memorabilia collection, and the Siamese Dream multicolour vinyl was shipped back to the US where another collector is currently admiring this extremely rare item.
  9. I saw him in Auckland last night. They are selling a selection of records at the merch desk including the yellow pressing of 1984. I was pretty stoked to grab 1984 for a reasonable price (NZD$15), as I have been looking for one for a while!
  10. Too good to pass up! 1) What is your favorite cereal? - Cocoa Pops 2) What is your favorite TV show? - Archer! 3) What is your favorite 80's song? - Metallica - Battery Trying to keep it in the VC family here, I would like Green Day Dookie, being sold by another member here: http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/114155-update-still-broke-brand-new-eyes-father-john-misty-dookie-on-green-vinyl-buy-this-shit/ If that sells in the meantime, then I would also be stoked with this: http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B005IY4W5M/ref=tmm_vnl_new_olp_sr?ie=UTF8&condition=new&sr=1-6&qid=1436138998 Cheers Sec!
  11. Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie Box Set - 1st US Pressing. Serious IGD on the A/B disc. The issues have been fixed on the second pressing.
  12. Hi all, if anyone is looking to offload either of the above, flick me a message. I know In Utero is easily available, but figured if someone was wanting to shift it I might be able to help out. Shipping is to the US. Cheers!
  13. I'm looking to pick a couple of things up from here... does anyone have a valid discount code? Cheers!
  14. Argh, fuck being in New Zealand... by the time I wake up all the good stuff is always gone!
  15. There's a copy that popped up on discogs today for $289.99 (seem negotiable). New seller though, bit of a gamble for that amount money.
  16. Looks like someone is having a go at flipping the random Octahedron pressing.. http://www.ebay.com/itm/The-Mars-Volta-Octahedron-2x-LP-Vinyl-WHITE-GRAY-New-/251978134711?&_trksid=p2056016.l4276
  17. Will gladly take the AOF off someone's hands if they don't want the bundle copy! Cheers
  18. Just an update on this. I managed to get a replacement set sent to me (and need to send back the old one). There was a bit of back and forth, but we got there in the end. It arrived yesterday and can confirm it is the newer version, I played Zero last night and it sounded great.
  19. Has anyone had any luck with Amazon regarding replacing their defective pressings (at their cost)? I note on the listing for the new pressing: "PRODUCT ALERT: Please note that this is a remastered version of an original recording. Any background noise from the original recording may be present in this recording as well." It seems to be fairly well documented that the distortion is as a result of a pressing issue and not a mastering issue. A defect not present on the EU pressing and which has clearly been fixed with this second pressing. I have contacted them. I will let you all know if I get a result.
