Oh well, can't please them all. The truth is this record is not a huge departure for Deafheaven.
 
It's prettier and more ethereal but it still sticks to the same shit they've been doing for a while with a less aggressive tone. 
 
I can see how someone who loved New Bermuda or Roads to Judah may be turned off but the underbelly of the band is still the same.
 
 

This album is great and the album themes are extremely relatable, aging punk who lives a less successful life based on their inability to grow up and fit into societal norms in favor of pursuing something they love and is extremely self-aware of it all. Me fucking too Pay 
 
Also the half black/half bone looks great too, showed up unscatched which is why I love ordering from deathwish, RFC has sent me warped records, seam split records, wrong variants (I know minor gripes) but given a choice between the 2 I'll go with the former everytime. Pressing is pretty good, a few ticks here and there but it's to be expected with half/half variants, this is one of my favorite albums of the year and quite possibly their best album to date 

This one is great. Also got a shipping notification from Deathwish!

Yeah, picked up the Deathwish version.  Best color for the artwork, IMO. Really digging the new song and the interview is great! Apparently the record is amazing according to Jeremy Bolm. There’s your endorsement right there haha.

160 for this is an insane deal. They killed it with NTS 1 and I can’t wait for the next 3.

Totally. Box set came yesterday and feels super sturdy and reminds me of the old 70’s Carpenters albums or something. The Atlantic labels and everything are really cool throwback or maybe they never stopped? Either way 40 bones for the set is worth it which is really cool and almost never happens.

Comes with some posters (Lost River movie poster and the Billy/Bully/Rat/Bones/Dave one), a slipmat and a booklet with stills from the film. Each disc has its own sleeve and there's a slipcover that fits all three. Box is thick and sturdy, fits on my shelf with ease. I'm pretty pleased with the whole presentation.

It is indeed remastered. I thought it sounded pretty good!

What? It's super simple but the minimal color palette makes it work well. The whole thing is repeated throughout the sleeve, giant book and the vinyl color itself. Simple, but effective. I stand by my original post.

Love the packaging on this. After spending about 30 minutes reading the note inside, the music makes more sense. It's really growing on me. Gatefold 1xLP is awesome and thick, glossy, the poster is nice and the flexi is great and even comes with art. I even got a Kannon pin with my order. Love this label, and pick up the record.
Also, when are White 1 and 2 getting repressed?
