rcafilm got a reaction from Admerr in PO Now: Interpol - Our Love To Admire (10th ann'y repress)
Just got my copy in. Comparing it to the original press for fun. Artwork/layout are almost completely identical, minus the legalese and logos. The jacket and sleeves on the original press are noticeably higher contrast/saturation than the new pressing, curious if that was intentional or just a printing difference. The sleeves on the OP also had one top shorter than the other for record removal, whereas the new sleeves have even tops. When it comes to the records themselves, the new 180g pressing is obviously thicker. Labels do not suffer the contrast discrepancy.

As far as the sound, I've only had a chance to listen to the first disc, but wow. This is how this record was meant to sound. The range is there, the detail is there, it's quiet, the atrocious distortion is all but gone. I say "all but gone" because to my ears the latter half of The Scale did not sound up to par with the beginning of Pioneer, but it's still totally listenable. The rest of the experience so far has been stellar. The bass on Pioneer is thunderous. Heinrich Maneuver comes in sounding punchy as hell. Guitars sound accurate and drums tend to leap out at you. Playing this record for someone will get you laid.

I asked and they clarified that the only thing that's been remastered is the vinyl itself.  The digit is not any different than previous releases.

    *raises hand*

I'm generally a colour vinyl guy, but for my Deftones collection I will only buy black because the boxset was black.

When I started my Cancer Bats collection I just happened to end up with a bunch of clear gold/orange, and at the time all of their albums had that variant available so I continued the trend as I bought more.

If I have mostly colour for a disocgraphy I'll try to keep it that way.

Could mean they took the CD audio and remastered it from there. Better than just transferring the exact same thing I guess.

It's not great, but I wouldn't say it was bad.

Even taking the CD audio it's quite possible to improve the mastering for vinyl, though obviously it's not ideal.

Yeah it's kind of a running joke of sorts from mwY, that they offer the cool colors and then plain black for the "serious audiophiles."

I for one have my entire mwY collection on colored vinyl, so grabbing a black copy all of a sudden would feel inconsistent. I think a lot of people are the same way.

Do you have a link? Curious to see exactly what they said. Typically "remastered for vinyl" means they've just taken the original master and optimized it for vinyl, which isn't a huge process but makes a lot of difference. I would be surprised if they're saying anything other than just that this isn't some brand new total remaster.

I'm sure it'll be green smoke instead of black smoke. Anyway the most interesting part to me is the listing says this was remastered for vinyl by Hans Dekline, who also did We Know Who Our Enemies Are, which sounded fantastic. Love that these guys always go all-out on their vinyl releases.

The 2xLP of Leveler has four additional songs though. And wasn't there a mint green tour variant for Leveler? Guess it'd be the same as the splatter one.

I listened to my first press of Constellations after a listen of my repress of Messengers and thought (Constellations) was quieter. Has anyone been able to compare the Constellation presses?

Solid State (and Tooth & Nail) is probably my favorite label... but yeah, I wish they would treat their vinyl releases better. Better quality in sound... adding inserts... maybe pressing other things instead of reissues. (Not that reissues aren't wanted/needed.) I'd kill for more Haste the Day, Oh Sleeper, MyChildren MyBride, Becoming the Archetype, finishing my Demon Hunter discog, or newer ones like The Ongoing Concept, etc.

It's been a while since I've researched, but I believe the consensus was that neither pressing was outstanding. I believe the CI pressing (car cover, dark starburst) was known as being unpleasantly compressed, among other flaws (CI is owned by nice folks but every pressing I have by them is pretty rough). The 2x gatefold pressing (chicken cover, clear) was apparently better but still had some sort of issues. Mostly I remember considering getting either pressing but passing because of the negative reports, so I never ended up picking this up. Hopefully this pressing is competent, but that would be... a change of pace for Solid State.

Geeze, I'm out of town for a couple days and miss an entire variant? Wanted that swamp but will settle for the splatter. Really dig that 7-inch book but having a hard time convincing myself to drop that much on an album I've only heard one song from, especially considering how little I listen to their last record these days. New song is probably better than anything on FIFAP, though, two listens in.

A few thoughts since I am just catching up on this thread:

1.) A couple of these shows had already sold out. I (obviously) don't have access to their sales numbers, but the response was strong in enough markets that they nearly doubled the city count after first announcing the tour.

2.) Someone said that Brett's solo albums were overpriced?!  I fucking made each of those by hand and they had some of the most unique packaging you've ever seen.  Anyone who got a copy got it for a song as far as my tired hands are concerned!

3.) If this is too expensive for you, you should pick up a copy of Deadbeat Sweetheartbeat from me right here:
    http://www.mindovermatterrecords.com
$26 bucks for a 2xLP in a gatefold jacket that unfolds twice, extends to over 4 feet long and housed inside of a screen printed, hand numbered jacket.

4.) I am pretty close with Brett. He is one of the nicest dudes I've ever met. He and the band members get along so well, and a day spent on any social media shows how close they all interact (and have for years)
