  1. I wish they would repress all of Bruce Springsteen's albums again. I feel like they're so hard to find!
  2. Seeing as they are the record label, I'd bet that they'd be the most reliable. And the bundle deal, if you want all 4, is a pretty good price.
  3. This dude is so much cooler than the real Morrissey. Thanks for helping out the board!
  4. Look for the 4 album bundle - all for $75. Sweet deal.
  5. Here it is: http://www.discogs.com/wantlist?user=raindogtrombone Let me know if there's something I have that you'd like to trade for.
  6. I have one copy of Death From Above 1979's Trainwreck Picture Disc from record store day. Shipped anywhere in the world for $36 USD, which includes shipping and Paypal fees. Basically at cost. PM me. Might list by the end of the week if no biters. I have the Red House Painters box. I overpaid for it, and am sort of regretting it. Selling at my cost, which is sort of higher than most people's cost (also because I'm in Canada). $235 US for the box, plus $9 worth of Paypal fees. Shipping to Canada $15, to US - $25, and internationally, unfortunately, a fuckload (probably around $60). Going to list at this price for 24 hours. I also have a bunch of stuff for sale on Discogs. I'll take $2 off any shipping rate through here, plus if you order multiples, I'll make some sweet deals. Plus, I really want to get rid of all my 7 inches listed on there. 2 for 1 for 7 inches. All Shipping from Canada. I get good rates through a courier company, and do my best to package really well. http://www.discogs.com/seller/raindogtrombone/profile I also have a couple of sale Urban Outfitters pickups that I made recently that I'll sell for $10 US plus appropriate shipping (but I'll keep it cheap). All sealed: Toadies - Rubberneck White Lung - Deep Fantasy Lower Dens - Nootropics (2LP) Eagulls - S/T Sea and Cake - The Biz Hold Steady - Teeth Dreams (2LP) Will also gladly trade for some of my main wants: Jens Lekman - Oh You're So Silent Jens Elvis Costello - any of his first 5 albums MoFi, but especially Get Happy and This Year's Model Beulah - When Your Heartstrings Break / The Coast is Never Clear Field Music - Tones of Town Ted Leo - Shake the Sheets / Hearts of Oak Sam Amidon - I See the Sign
  7. The 356 comes with a DAC. Is that something you need/would want? I have a lower version of this series - NAD C326BEE. It's pretty solid, has a nice sound, but I'm powering Wharfedale 10.1, and my guess is some of the kind folks around here are going to suggest something else given the value/quality of your speakers (sorry - I'm not amp expert).
  8. What's crazier is when I looked yesterday, there were 5 or 6 for sale for at least $300, and now they're gone...
  9. Same seller, tonevendor, has a ton of RSD stuff at very reasonable prices: http://www.discogs.com/seller/tonevendor/profile I saw Sloan, Ride, Pulp, Phish, and a whole lot more, all at uninflated prices.
  10. I haven't heard much about Matthews. What's the scoop?
  11. ryantark got me a copy of Hold Steady's Boys and Girls in America at cost. Thanks!
  12. I do have buyer's remorse in general about this, but that's my own problem. That's not what I'm miffed about. Honestly I feel worse knowing that an hour after I bought the record, I saw it for $70 less. I just feel a bit ripped off. Maybe because when I bought it, I sort of assumed the cost in Canada would be somewhere around $250, only quickly to learn that elsewhere in the city it was between $180-200. The store I went to is a new one, with friendly customer service, and one that I had hoped to regularly visit (and that I had been to a few times already). I feel in some ways that I was a little bit duped. Again, I'm not directly blaming them. They are a business. I am a consumer. They had what I want. In the moment, I didn't hesitate to buy it. That's my problem. But it's going to be harder for me to feel anything but ripped off going into that store again. Yeah, it is. In Canada, I am quite used to paying marked-up prices to an extent, but this is basically more than double the price in the US. Even if you factored in all freight and taxes, its still wouldn't be near what I paid. This is true. I've decided I'm not going to write to them. I wanted to, but I don't know that I'll get much out of it. In the end, I'm very likely selling it to a VCer at my cost, due to my buyer's remorse. Shitty part about that is that the cost that it will be more expensive for the buyer. Anyways, sorry about all this. I think I needed to talk myself through all of this, because I've been feeling pretty conflicted over a fucking record, and that's pretty ridiculous. No need to follow up. If you think I'm an asshole or have a spending problem, I'd like to hope that neither are true, or only a little bit true.
  13. So I wrote before about debating whether I might sell my copy or not, but right now, I'm actually thinking I got a bit hosed on the price from the store. I paid $250 CAD + tax, which worked out to $280. That's $230 US. When I walked into another store an hour later and saw the box for $200, then heard about another store selling for $180, plus all of the prices elsewhere, I started to think that this was just the store seriously hiking the price because RSD. The store I bought from is a new one, and I really like the guys that run it. I'm debating whether I should write to the store and just kind of mention this - if they had the same cost for the product as all other Canadian stores, then they just had a significant additional mark-up. There's nothing technically illegal related to RSD, but it is kind of shitty. I've bought from them three times over the last few months. Am I being a bit of a jerk emailing them about this and maybe asking for $50 back? I don't think it's unreasonable. Basically I paid $70 (CAD) per album. That's a fuckload of money for albums that are being repressed soon. And I'd like to think that as a new record store, they wouldn't want to alienate a local and potentially very loyal customer. And plus, even if I sold at cost, and I have considered this, it would be $275 US to send it to someone, shipped, which is borderline flipper prices. Sorry for the rant. Opinions welcome.
  14. I saw all kinds of crazy prices today. $37 for Foos, $40 for RTJ, $20 for various 7 inches, $20 for the Metallica cassette. I mean I guess every store has the right to price however they want, but that is pretty damn shitty.
  15. Anyone have an extra Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America? My only want at this point.
  16. My day was a weird one. Started with a Red House Painters box, and followed with picking up a few albums for VCers - two DFA 1979 pic discs (both spoken for) and Pianos Become the Teeth (sold to a VCer). Then bought a few albums on sale: Max Richter - Blue Notebooks Arthur Russell - Another Thought Cass McCombs - Catacombs (been looking for this forever and found it for $16 at HMV of all places). Then I walked into an Urban Outfitters and they were having a 30% off sale stuff. So I got: White Lung - Deep Fantasy Sufjan Stevens - Enjoy Your Rabbit Eagulls - S/T The Sea and Cake - S/T Lower Dens - Nootropics Toadies - Rubberneck Hold Steady - Teeth Dreams All for $7 each.
  17. Guys, I'm having RHP regrets. I bought this at 9:01 at a pretty shitty price actually (280 CAD after taxes, 220 US). Especially since I spent the rest of the day spending more money on records, I'm debating selling this at the cost I bought it. If you'd be willing to pay cost of everything including Paypal fees, I can probably work out reasonable shipping to Canada and US (no more than $20 my guess) or unreasonable really expensive shipping elsewhere, send me a PM and we can work something out. Edit: sold.
  18. I picked up a Pianos Become the Teeth 7 inch because I saw a lot of you wanted it. Shipping from Canada but with discounted price shipping due to the fact that I use a sort of courier company that does discounts. $15 US shipped anywhere in the world to the first to write me? Is that fair? Edit: sold!
  19. Holy fuck. Holy fuck. Walked into a store opening at 9 right at 9:01. Ninth in the store. Guy yells 'we have one Red House Painters box'. I say mine. And then it was mine. Total fucking disbelief. Never thought I would own this.
  20. Did someone want DFA1979? Picked it up. 35 CAD after taxes. Will make fair deal to anyone who wants it. Edit: sale pending. Will edit this again if sale falls through.
  21. I have a clear and I am debating selling it. But I haven't yet decided. If I do, I'll post here and make a very reasonable price. To be honest, I think this album is beautiful and well-written, but fuck, I just feel like I never want to listen to it. Maybe it's just too sombre for me. I do like some sad-sack music, but I think part of my issue with this album is that it carries more or less the same tone through the entire thing. Whereas his previous albums had diverse instrumentation, mood, and dynamics, I think this one kind of all sounds the same. I'm probably in the serious minority here in thinking so. And all of which to say, I have to see in the next few weeks if I have any desire to listen to the album again. If not, I may well sell it.
  22. Brings me back. Used to see these guys live all the time. Also, I'm so impressed that Jump Up is still going. I remember I was on their 'street team' in the late 90s, meaning I'd get a few free promo CDs to go and leave flyers and posters for Jump Up releases all over the city. It was so worth it to teenage ska-loving me...
  23. In case anyone's wondering, I bought this. Took a month to get here. Used it yesterday. Seems to work pretty well - came with a 5g weight for calibration, and the scale seemed accurate (I had previously set my counterweight around 1.75-1.8, and I measured a weight of 1.79).
  24. Yeah. They are. I am a die-hard fan, but I have no words of defence. They really are and have been terrible for so long. And it's sad. My dad has for the last 20 years had 1/6th of a set of season tickets (up in the nosebleeds), and so goes to about 6 or 7 games per year, and usually takes me to one. About halfway through this season, he couldn't even beg me to take them - even when he offered to babysit my kid, and pay for the dinner in advance (we obviously relented but got to the game late and left early). My wife, who doesn't know much about hockey, watched the game with me (I think against the Blues) and she said something like "I know you told me they suck, but even I know that they're playing poorly..." What a shitshow if they get McDavid. They won't, but it would but insane if they did. They'd still find remarkable ways to lose....
