Gumbo72203 got a reaction from poweredbytrust in Deafheaven - New Bermuda
So, what are we speculating that the cover means?
To me, it looks like a dude just face-planted into some cake.
Or he's been in darkness, and is seeing the light wash over his face for the first time as a result of Deafheaven's music?

So, when does Subsets of Sets go on for pre-order?
I just discovered this gem, and am listening now.
I seriously hate you all for exposing this band to me.
Its like you just shot me up with heroin for the first time. ****poof**** There goes all my money....

lol really?
I thought it was the band themselves because I bought it from their bandcamp page or wherever, not Translation Loss' page.
In any event, that EP is SO amazingly awesome.
I was on the fence for so long about getting it, because the music didn't grab me too much while listening on my computer.
But I played the CD today in my car, and I'm pretty sure I'm already onto my 3rd play-through of the whole thing. It's just amazing.
Going to spin the vinyl tomorrow morning. can't wait!
AND I CANT WAIT FOR MY VINYL COPY OF WAKE/LIFT TO GET HERE AHHHH OMG

So, I already know these guys:
Caspian
sleepmakeswaves
Rosetta
If These Trees Could Talk
Audrey Fall
Sunlight Ascending
Terronaut
Please give me some more bands like this!

People who like Deafheaven will probally like Izah as well.
And it turns out I's right.
Probably going to spin this record tomorrow... been a while. I usually play Roads to Judah and save Sunbather for my car for release after work.

Also do we have any pictures of the black/silver splatter?
The more I'm thinking about it, I kind of like the white.
Fuck, I just might buy both. Is this how it starts, guys? lol

Wow, you guys.... relax. Obviously you all knew what I meant.
And yes, its 2015... are there really any people against gays left? That's so dumb.
Homophobic people are the lamest (gayest is the term we would have used in high school, but I do try not to use that any more because people get so uptight over it and we have to have a dumb sidebar like this whole thing).
Not sure why gay used in that context has nothing to do with homosexuality any more though, but that's just how it developed.
Nobody makes fun of gay people, and if they do, they're a fucking faggot who needs to get with the times.(watch South Park)
Anyway I have to get to work.... Deafheaven rules, gay people are just normal people too, people who hate gays are stupid, vinyl is awesome, blah blah blah.

Sunbather is an example of an album that should NOT be limited.
Everybody should be able to spin this on vinyl. It's too fucking good.

Gumbo72203 got a reaction from cambionic in What books are you reading?
Honestly, most of his stories are so short that it won't take you long to blow through everything he wrote.
The longer ones will take a week, depending how much/how fast you read.
Just finished The Case of Charles Dexter-Ward for maybe only the 2nd time... so awesome.
My favorite is still The Dreamquest of Unknown Kadath though.
Followed.... man, I don't even know by what.
Lovecraft wins so hard. He would be so unimaginably blown away to know what his work has become. Dude was a nobody when he was alive. So weird.

Gumbo72203 got a reaction from cambionic in What books are you reading?
It really isn't. Granted, I've been reading him religiously since high school.
Dude... just start. Get any of his compilations.
It's awesome because even after so much exposure, his mythos and lore is still mysterious and novel to me... it's amazing.
Dreams in the Witch-House is a good starting place. That one kind of touches on everything he did.... the old school regular horror stories, the mysterious dreamer stuff, and the Cthulhu Mythos characters.
Other good ones to check out first:
The Temple
The Festival
The Haunter In The Dark
The Nameless City
The Call of Cthulhu
Nyarlathotep
Dreams In The Witch-House

Is anyone here actually being homophobic?
Also... I guess I see your guys' point here. Had a big intellectual discussion/debate about this topic tonight with a group of friends, although it was about the n-word. As silly as I think it is, you have to legitimize and internalize the outrage that some people feel when the word gay is used in a non-homosexual context.
But why do they get to be the ones who are outraged? Why can't the people who don't care and don't mean it as anything to do with sexuality be the ones who win? (devil's advocate here... because I honestly just don't care. I know that support/accept gay people and don't use it as a derogatory term towards people who are of that sexual orientation).
Blah. Anyway....
Are Deafheaven working on any new material does anyone know?
I've though about picking up the demo 12"... can anyone comment on whether its worth owning? I listen to Sunbather and Roads to Judah regularly

Totally happened to me too, but I didn't go that far haha.
I actually just finished listening to "Roads to Judah" on vinyl (spinning the new Baulta record now ) and I have Sunbather in my car at the moment.
I know this might sound gay or whatever to those hardened internet collectors here, but Saturday after a long, grueling day of work I was listening to "Dreamhouse" on my ride home. The ride is short, and I got to my driveway about halfway through the song. Turned my car off, and just sat there with "Dreamhouse" finishing at full blast.
The bridge fucking made me cry. It was so bizarre. The emotionality of the music just fucking engulfed me, and I started crying. It was kind of amazing. Not like a bawling emo-sissy thing, but like... kind of what happens when you watch soldier homecoming videos... just a sweet, emotional thing.
This band is so good. I love that they actually use real production on their albums, and not the sampled mechanical sound most metal bands use today. I hate that shit. The drums sound like actual drums played by a person.
These guys are high on my bucket list to see live. Could you imagine a show with like, Deafheaven, Junius, Rosetta, and like, sleepmakeswaves or something?
drool...
