Don't blame you at all. That sort of hostility doesn't merit your time or money.

Which is why I never purchased the record I was inquiring about. The shipping was well near the price of the actual product. I emailed them curious as to why, explained that in all the years I have been purchasing records, had I seen a shipping cost (that was not international) cost so much. After a few back and forth responses, that was the last one I got.  I absolutely wanted Sea of the Dying Dhow, but I wouldn't give them my money after that.

@dawhizz I have emailed Pure to see if they can give any insight into the pressing numbers, weight of vinyl and type of packaging (single/gatefold). Will update the thread if and when I get any answers.

It's the double edged sword of the format really.
The actual physical playing of a record and it's surrounding environment can change so many things.

Vinyl noise is almost always in some sort of surface contamination on any record. More often than not it is minuscule dust particles that are the culprit, on the record or stylus. A good cleaning will resolve a lot of that, however even the cleanest record can have surface noise that is noticeable in the lower end of it's dynamic moments, especially repetitive ones (your ear will notice subtle changes). This is why we try not to manufacture "Hazed" releases, as the process itself leaves so much surface dust/sand on a record, it isn't worth it from an audiophile perspective.

Comparing vinyl colors in terms of "sound" isn't really something that will yield results based on color. Again, the X factor is always dust and contamination. Every time you take a record out of a sleeve, static brings particles to it. You'll never be able to run a proper test unless you were in a dust free NASA lab. Comparing a Test Press to the last record pressed of a 100k press would be an interesting experiment though. None of us press those sort of numbers though to do that. Plates don't deteriorate as they once did in the 70's and 80's, as we aren't pressing huge amount of records w/ the same plates in use. Plates are generally remade if they are lost, broken, or a release is moved to a new manufacturing facility.

I can't speak for other labels, but we are strict w/ our Test Pressings in terms of quality. If we notice any abnormalities, they won't make it to press w/ any record.
Hope this gives some folks insight into some things when it comes to vinyl. Thanks.

Reasons you got shitty answers should be pretty apparent but I'll break it down grumpy puss.
Someone pointed out you missed the "Does Anyone Have Information About This Record" thread that is pinned to the top of the forum. This thread is literally here to stop brand new members from clogging the board up with individual enquiries. As much as you are a beautiful and unique snowflake every question you have doesn't warrant a brand new thread that only has the lifespan of two or three posts, that stuff is for Yahoo answers. The answer to all these queries is pretty much the same it's worth what people are prepared to pay, value isn't intrinsic and you pointed this out yourself with your knowledge of varying prices across discogs. Some people think this is worth a few bucks others will probably sell this for a standard price. The way your initial post reads it sounds like you are here to get advice on flipping a record for an exorbitant amount, coming fresh into a community that cares (admittedly for different reasons) about records and putting your hand up and saying "I bought this and want to sell it for big bucks" is bound to attract negative attention. I mean I know it seems harsh to have so many people jump on you but if you had lurked here for a week and gotten to know how people here talk to each other and how the site operates you'd have a good idea of how this was going to turn out before posting. Just saying.

"We All Fall Down" is pretty fucking awesome.  If they played that when you saw them, I bet that was damn incredible.  The slow rise to the climax intensity is very well done.

I totally get where you're coming from. I figured the vocals would be the biggest sticking point for a lot of people. Personally I love all that pained screamo shit but it's definitely not going to be everyone's cup of tea.
