My whole Faith No More collection (all LPs, 75% of singles and the KFAD 7" boxset)
Thrice - vheissu(original press)/alchemy index/beggars/MM (even though my dog chewed the spine of the alchemy index!)
The Rookie Lot - 7" on clear & Brand New - YFW OG (I bought these as gifts for my girlfriend who loves brand new)
Give Up The Ghost - WDTWU original on clear
At the drive in - ROC
Thought Riot - The Dangerous Doctrine of Empathy 7" (the only wax they pressed, and my namesake)
Mischief Brew / Andrew Jackson Jihad 8" split on polka dots (this release is so damn cool)
The Living End - One Said To The Other 7" trilogy
Bob Dylan - Desire (still my most played record ever, I grew up listening to my parents copy of this, and still love it)
Pink Floyd - Wish you were here & dark side of the moon (my grandad has dementia, and I recently inherited his 150+ record collection including these two. Even though I own copies of these already, I will cherish these for years as they were his records that he looked after for over 30 years)

Decided I should listen to this album again to see if I even want it...maybe I have my answer right there?

I think I don't really need anything after DL and FTM.

We had been together for seven years or so, and the pressure from family and my girl's friends was mounting.

I was dead set on not doing the typical proposal.....every holiday we would go on, I'd get text messages or phone calls "are you gonna propose while you're away?". Every get together with family was met with the usual questions.

We had a discussion about it, as the constant questions from her friends started playing with her mind.....making her think there was a reason why I didn't want to marry her or commit. I reiterated that I didn't want to do it because everyone thought I should, I would do it on my terms when I was ready. I joked that we would be walking the dogs on a Tuesday morning, and i'd bend down to pick up their poop and come up with a ring in my hand.

So after the discussion I was determined to do it a little different, and also show that I was willing to commit then and there. I knew I was going away interstate for work quite a few times in the coming months, so I bought her a teddy bear for valentines day (I've never bought her a teddy bear, and she's not the sort of girl that expects anything more than a few flowers). What she didn't realise was that I'd bought a ring and had a dressmaker hide it inside the teddy bear and seal it back up.

Over the next couple of months, when we would talk on the phone, if she ever said she was missing me, I told her to hug the teddy.....it was my replacement while I was away. I really hammed it up and by the time I got home for the last time, it had become 'that silly teddy'.

I still didn't budge and tell her about the ring, as I wasn't feeling that the timing was right.

Fast forward to October, and I was going away for another three weeks, so we went out to dinner to her favourite restaurant, had a couple of bottles of wine, and some amazing sex when we got home. Laying in bed afterwards, she told me how much she was going to miss me, and I pulled out the old, 'well, don't worry. You've got the teddy to keep you company", which was met with a roll of the eyes and a response of 'that stupid bloody teddy'.

I got up and threw it to her, and said  "You just need to squeeze it harder." She did with a puzzled look on her face, and replied "I feel like i'm squeezing his brains out".

I replied, "Can you feel his brains?"

Another puzzled look, and then a change in her face as she felt the ring. "What is it?"

I responded "What does it feel like?"........."A riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiing?!!?!?!?!?!"

Like a few of you have said, the cost of the ring doesn't matter. I bought a simple white gold band, and had it engraved with "W. Y. M. M. ?" on the inside ("will you marry me?" if you can't figure it out). This was partly because I knew she wasn't too materialistic, but also I worried that she might throw out the teddy or the dogs might get to it.

I offered to replace the symbolic ring with a 'proper one', but she loves the band. Instead of splashing out, she's spending the money on getting our wedding rings custom designed by a local artist.

Haha, I'm more or less done with Relapse these days. Not only are they charging outrageous prices for their "limited" stuff, but they are also among the most expensive on overseas shipping. Red Fang aren't even that good, might pick up a regular copy locally after first having a good listen to it.

For the most part, they're the songs I prefer listening to on the last couple of albums. The heavier songs I tend to skip or not get too excited about anymore.

I have hundreds of records, and whilst I have a decent turntable, speakers and amp, spaced far enough apart and on different surfaces to avoid the wrath of the internets, to be honest....
Most of my vinyl playing happens when I have friends over, am cooking or sitting on the balcony. Hardly positioning myself in the sweet spot for optimal sound, nor at the optimal height my ears are positioned in relation to the speakers, but you know what?
The enjoyment I have in listening to and dissecting an LP on the balcony with mates, or singing along with my girl while cooking dinner is much greater than sitting on the couch by myself singing along with the liner notes.

$32 today, $38 tommorow, $40 the month after that. It will keep inching up with this mindest as long as there is a "vinyl boom" in progress. Take in mind prices are steadily rising because those in charge of pricing take into account your mindset with their own greed. They know you'd rather pay $32 instead of $150 (as would I  - it is substantially less) so you will probably have to if you want the record for cheaper than eBay prices. That does not justify the price tag being $32 when it should be much less. Most of the people in charge aren't worried about cutting you the greatest deal in the world. They are worried about making their money and getting it while the getting is good.

I understand having to get it for $32 because it's either that or $150, but you don't have to be cool with it. Just take in mind the second you let them know you are cool with $32 pricing they'll assume you'll be cool with $38. They know as long as they keep it under $150 you've got your shades and a beach towel ready to swim.

Be grateful you live where you do. I pay upwards of $15 shipping per record to get in on presales. If a record makes it to stores in Australia, the retail price is anywhere from $25 to $50 for something you would pay $10-20 for.

If it costs me less than $40 including shipping, i'm in front of buying it locally.
