  1. My friend grabbed me a ticket for the day Tim Barry is playing.
  2. Last bump before the bay. I thought Rustic Bullshit was a good album and somewhat revered by those of us who love being depressed. Ha.
  3. I'm in here somewhere but I'm not saying where. I'm posting because Sharon was so awesome at this premiere. At the end she belts out a bit of Gospel Acapella. Thought some folks on here might dig it.
  4. I think you are way wrong - I think that GLOSS ep is pure punk expression. Raw and why the genre can be relevant forever. It can be sloppy as shit but it rips. I'm with Albini on this one 100% if we have to compare the two bands. I came in here to look for discussion on that Lush collection. Anyone order it? I am hard pressed to keep paying these prices but man I love Lush.
  5. I have em all but I am so behind on all the Star Wars books. Overwhelming man.
  6. I have the /100 screen printed cover versions of Talon's "Rustic Bullshit" & "Songs for Babes". I figure someone on here might be looking for these. I don't usually ask for offers but I'm going that route on these. I will split them up. Condition is perfect. Hit me with PMs. I will email photos.
  7. I'm planning a RM listening marathon. "Look Now Look Again" is so good - what's your favorite?
  8. Still not a debate. "Serial Killer" is such a great track. I know this sound isn't popular at all any longer and that's a crime. I love Indian Summer. I miss that era where we had so many rad female fronted bands. Junction "Swingset" is so freaking good. Art Monk Construction was a great label. Meghan Ball could sing plain and simple - someone can argue with me that maybe Rainer Maria's "Look Now Look Again" is a contender. Hope those ordering dig it.
  9. If there was justice in this world there would be 12 already. But I think you can still get this album from EVR for $5 which is far punker than 29.99 represses anyway.
  10. I say this with apologies to Don Martin 3, Moonraker, Junction, Ashes, Split Lip & Indian Summer. (I couldn't decide if Shift should be considered emo - sorry if anyone feels it a slight) Not considered: any band that had 12 t-shirt designs before releasing an album. So pretty much anything post-2000. I'm overstating and making a bit of a joke here. There are some very good records and more coming that in my opinion stay true to the original vision of the genre - I dig what Old Gray is up to for instance. All that said Copper "Drag Queen" is emo perfection start to finish. It's a hauntingly beautiful record that within those microgrooves you can hear all the passion that went into a group of people trying to express something that by extension captures brilliantly a moment in time when punk and hard-core were taking a step in another direction. Why a new thread? Just lock it. This isn't a debate, it's a statement so others can get turned onto what I think is an overlooked and lost album from an amazing era of music.
  11. Ran the NYC Marathon. I tweaked my three-x surgically repaired knee at mile 11 and it blew up like a balloon. I finished but in 4:20:00 (ish). I thought I'd run a 3:40:00 and was on pace until that happened. This is my cross to bare with endurance sports: I never know if my knee will last. I have taken it mostly easy since with one short run and a short bike ride. I plan to jog tonight and start building again. Signed up for the NJ Marathon on May 1. I need to run one again and finish on my terms. I know I'll never be fast but I want to feel good at the end so let's try it again. Best to all out there.
  12. What are you willing to Pay? Pay lots in Newark and Secaucus abound. NJ Transit is easy. It will save some dough over the NYC parking. Newark has a few cheap lots but couldn't name them. I just know where they are near the station. Secaucus has gone up in price but is super convenient.
  13. If this box lives up to what Moonsorrow accomplished then I'm in and will find the way to pay.
  14. I'm only sticking around on VC until I get my Old Canes 7" set. Need to check in daily for updates.
  15. When I check in here these days I always look for the thread that is going to make me laugh my ass off. Nice. See you tomorrow.
  16. I'm at like level 114 after a short break. Game is still awesome. I'm becoming an HGH attack master.
  17. The Ihsahn and Sigh LPs that are sitting there for $8 are two of my favorites from the label. I grabbed the Lykea Aflame LP while in there. Good stuff.
  18. That apology is the worst. Laughably bad. To the question about separating art from the artist: it's nearly impossible to know that a shitty person created a form of expression and enjoy it. That music is a direct expression of their very being hatred and all. I gave up on them a long time ago and feel right in having done so - music is human expression and we know what these assholes are expressing there is no between-the-lines. I finally am divesting of Kozelek related shit myself for this very reason. Keep listening if you want but don't decieve yourself into thinking there is separation. This is their art. They created it. They own it. There are awful people involved.
  19. Well, I figured I'd stop in to share that the GLOSS demo tears it up. That is seriously good punk rock.
  20. Any VC New Yorkers coming around this thread? I have a special offer if interested. Hit me up. Come party. Be the next Eh Dawds and meet up with me for a film out.
  21. Times Square to get a photo with Elmo. You'll never forget the booze on his breath.
