  1. I'll be the wet blanket: Can you post a reference or two? First post sales have not proven to be the most consistent around here. Thanks.
  2. I got all of mine. It came packed for a tank. All 100% clean. Sorry others have had issues. What an order. My wife is still talking to me thankfully.
  3. This guy has a history. I don't buy the innocent act. Sometimes money makes strange bedfellows. I've walked away from a ton of money and a couple time I've compromised a hardline stance to get work done. This isn't black and white nor is Geoff a monster like this guy but the history of being a ruthless tool was there well before. And in compromise - I hope people continue to call me a good guy. Geoff didn't withhold medication from AIDs Patients so there is no equating his involvement or taking money from this guy. But he was long unscrupulous and that deserves consideration.
  4. I never got way into this record but I love the label and the screened cover is awesome.
  5. I'm failing to express my point properly: this isn't to say Tre & Matt didn't intend it this way. My point: The critical acclaim from places that have been the PC police for a decade, the places that have created this atmosphere - I can't imagine that the widespread appreciation of this episode would be coming if the PC Police weren't who they are. Look, I did most of what Matt/Tre do - I like that they push the boundaries and make me think things through a bit while getting a healthy dose of toilet humor. I'm not so into their Libertarian-centric episodes but I've always loved to watch and see where they are going. I can't see the Slates of the internet liking this episode if the PC police were any other group than what we see here. It isn't about Matt/Tre and their choices - its more about the people, like slate, that are being lampooned for their efforts in creating this shit and how suddenly they praise the work. Anyway, I'm failing. It was funny. Dug it. Look forward to the next episode. I wish they'd do more episodes per season again.
  6. Maybe I phrased it wrong: would places like Slate who have created the environment they are lampooning be so effusive about it if not handled just like this? I don't think so. I think they would have had a think piece of outrage instead.
  7. Serious question: If they used anything other than clunky white males as the absurd PC imagery would it have gotten nearly the positive reaction it's getting now? I've been wondering because a lot of places I see commending it have created the very atmosphere being lampooned.
  8. It's the film I've been producing for the past 2.5 years. Premiere was amazing. Ehdawds on here came since he's Canadian. Figured a few VCers might dig this. Gratifying when people get what you set out to do as seems to be happening.
  9. ^^^ Yup, her, but I'm already claimed. My wife is so damn lucky.
  10. Also, all of you need to keep an eye out for the new film - I mention it out of selfish pride. November 12 is the US premiere (in NYC) and I might swing 2-4 tickets to give away on here.
  11. From the bits I heard this album is going to be a ton of fun. Sharon is strong as can be and in amazing spirits despite this obstacle. May we all be so damn positive when faced with something so large.
  12. I'm way late. A day in bed sick seems like a good time to catch up. David - 38 going on 37, I'm very realistic. I humor myself saying I have eclectic music tastes but in the end I love my gritty Hardcore and Punk stuff. I'd say a secret Santa can't go wrong fishing for Lee Fields records for me, I've been digging his sound but not buying. I love a good mix - especially something that I can run to. I love DIY 90s me - not the Brand New Mall Variety. I know that makes me a terrible person. I am a volunteer firefighter, avid coffee drinker who loves local roasts, crazy cat guy (I'd marry the woman that did the whole crying about how cute cats are video if I wasn't already married). I take philanthropy and volunteerism pretty seriously. I have a five year old obsessed with Legos so including him earns an extra point or two. Recent bands I've enjoyed: Loved that Crash of Rhinos lp from a couple years back. Poppier stuff: I like those Front Bottoms lips. I like records that don't overproduce to the point of taking out the human element. I am a size M or L T-shirt - either works. I love documentaries but have probably seen most that you'd send. I love Ernest movies and have certainly seen it all by now. I am a Star Wars obsessed fellow as well - can't go wrong with Star Wars stuff. Hope things are well out there. Thanks for trying to make something out of how little I'm giving!
  13. I see vinyl prices are on the downslope of the bell curve again. Praise Krishna.
  14. Wait, people pay money for this crap? I've been playing on the shitter at work. My goal is to have the most Shmi Skywalkers out there. Have about 500 so far.
  15. I'll be in Toronto Sept 10 -14. Hoping I get an actual Canadian Passport stamp this time. I don't see any good concerts listed while I'm in town, at least not any I'm interested in. Love Toronto. Think I'll bite the bullet to go to the top of the CM this time.
  16. The Codeine box was so high on my list - $52 - awesome. Nailed the Unwound test - time to relive all those times I caught em live back in the day. Grabbed a few other Eccentric Soul releases. Now I hold back and pray I don't go in for more.
  17. I finally delved into this sale. Ran up $275 in the first pass and am struggling to whittle it down but whittle I must.
  18. I was perusing comics today and started thinking "This could be good for Secret Santa..." It's that time of year again!
  19. I'm in and grandfathered in for having no list - suck it Santa!
  20. So, I was in Gainesville for 36 hours recently for all the wrong reasons and I say to my friend a couple beers in "Who are the young band that are doing things right in this town of late" and he says "Edmonton". I make a quick stop at No Idea before leaving town to grab this record and yeah, it's pretty damn terrific. A bit raw, melodic, totally an earnest effort - it's what I love hearing, folks laying down some music that obviously means something to them and leaving it for all the hear. Buy this. Don't buy another shitty Brand New record or keep complaining about some band that is doing something shitty - these cats are doing it right. I later learn they are playing the benefit for the local radio station my friend is putting on that rose from the ashes of my Free Radio Gainesville days - awesome. Order, listen, be glad people still give a shit/
  21. I think people have to take a long hard look at why things like this are increasingly happening in this scene. Why do bands or band members think they can use the guitar around their neck as an invitation to violate a woman? People can laugh about the Riot Girl and Girls Up Front reaction fostered in the 90s - and certainly creeps existed - but they certainly knew they weren't welcome. Similar to how when I was a kid a wicked Neo-Nazi faction existed that is now by and large gone - it takes action and sometimes very forceful, direct and uncomfortable action. This isn't my scene but those of you that are fostering it are due for a swift and radical shift in attitude and direction. Don't wait for someone else to dictate it, take control and foster the environment you want to remember not the bullshit. People can laugh about some of the insane shit and bands we supported in the 90s but like fuck if there was a person in that room that wasn't welcomed and comfortable. Good luck gang. Fuck the internet tirades and create the venues you want, create the music you want to hear and be among the people you want to love and support.
  22. I think an appropriate amount of time has passed to refresh this.
  23. I bought a download of this from the band out of curiosity - this is very good. I like the slightly raw nature. I plan to order and want to pass along that folks here shouldn't sleep - give a listen.
  24. Aw, I'm sorry. 15 is right at that acceptable age. I'm scratching my old man cat right now - be well.
