Thrice is my favorite band and they definitely did lose me on a lot of the last 2 albums but I'm really liking these first 2 songs. They tracked this themselves yeah? Is this the first time since Beggars? Perhaps the studio/producers got in the way a bit on the last few.
I'm hoping for more energy and vocal dynamics but also completely down for songs like 'Robot' - definitely getting Beggars/Alchemy/MM vibes so far which gives me hope!

8 Days later and I'm actually loving this record now. I'm in the phase where I'm looking forward to being able to play it whenever I'm not in a situation where I can choose to listen to music. It feels great.

Keen to hear how this pressing sounds. I had heaps of issues with Dust & Disquiet noise wise. Not keen to drop $70 AUD on this if it's not up to scratch.

That's ideal too. But I like artists who'll throw something a little more experimental or tongue-in-cheek on a side nonetheless.

I hadn't seen that bundle before tbh. The Cope boxset is real nice though and the bsides are great too. I enjoy Cope however thought production was a bit lacking. Hope however is next level. This is probably my favorite thing theyve done!

There were loads of them that didn't have bad sound quality, but, yes, these would be from a different pressing for whatever that's worth.

Haha if you wanna drive to Melb I'll happily oblige! But man, it takes a toll on the 'ol back and wrist lol. Definitely couldn't do this for all my collection. BUT, when Act V arrives it's getting the royal treatment

This is true. In the past I have cleaned with a brush, had a listen then do the deep clean but now I'm nervous that I'm just pushing any dirt & dust into the groove so just better to clean properly first.  Couldn't say how much better I got it to be fair but the records look pretty nasty so I was expecting the worst!

So Act V is AMAZING. I don't know why, but I always get a nervous feeling when a new TDH record drops like somehow it won't live up to the expectations in my head but shit, this just blew them out of the water!
This has literally everything that I love about TDH genre wise - Prog, Industrial, Acoustic, swampy blues and on and on...just so much to love. Much darker tone that Act IV also.
'The Haves Have Naught' was a real surprise, very Razia's Shadow!
Mr Usher is just mind blowing, definitely an early favorite.
Will be on repeat this weekend!

Sound is pretty good! I feel like the mix sounds slightly different but not in a bad way. My 2nd LP is a little bit noisy in the quiet parts. I've cleaned both records thoroughly but still some loudish clicks/pops etc but as I say, only really noticeable in the quieter parts and they aren't too distracting.
Overall really nice package. Not as cool as they intended it to be but the spot-gloss jackets and tiny labels are pretty darn cool.

Surprised you aren't digging it that much Sasan. It was definitely different than I expected after their first 2 EP's but I found a lot to like. Newman & Mastery are probably the only tracks I don't REALLY enjoy. Everything else I think is fantastic.

Definitely can't wait for another Vennart solo album though!

I have the 10,000 days boot in red and the pressing is horribly noisy. The audio itself sounds quite good when it IS quite however totally ruined by near constant noise. Might try find a blue then!

Sooo...yesterday was pretty amazing for me. I got to see Clint Mansell perform live as part of Melbourne Festival. Prior to the show they had a 'Conversation with Clint' -  a kind of interview/Q&A type thing in one of the halls. Was really interesting to hear him speak about his early days, influences, relationship with Darren Aronofsky/Trent Reznor, how he approaches writing etc. He definitely is not part of the Hollywood machine - quite the character!

I got to meet him afterwards and got him to sign my Moon record..so stoked! AND I used the opportunity to ask him about The Fountain pressing (how could I not!). He said straight up that Mondo are doing it next year and they are doing Noah as well. Then mentioned how Black Swan is being released now etc. So there it is...we WILL get The Fountain.

The show was absolutely amazing. Played all the highlights from Pi, Requiem, Noah, The Wrestler, Moon, & The Fountain. Blew my mind! Can't wait to hear High Rise...heard good things!
