@shaizada
I haven't been able to stop buying records . I'm gonna put some stuff up for sale that hopefully people will buy. It's my next purchase though and I can't wait.

Finally got my VPI Scout on Friday. Mostly set up now, just chasing a ground hum...it's annoying. But, holy shit this turntable sounds 100x better than my Technics SL-1600mk2 and I love that table. Even with the lowly Ortofon 2m Red I'm amazed at the sound.

I'm still wrapping my mind around the fact that I was able to get a die hard clear. So fucking amped!

Ordered my VPI Scout today, finally!
Went with the last model with the acrylic platter and JMW-9T tone arm, because I got a pretty good deal. Also, got the Soundsmith Counter Intuitive weight for it and some Blue Jean LC1 cables.
Color me excited!

octave got a reaction from dronemaloney in Does anybody out there got any of the desert session albums they want to come off of?
bluedeni has the whole set. He was looking to sell them a couple weeks ago. Unfortunately, I'm trying to upgrade my table and frame a huge print so I was short on what he wanted to get out of them.

It's called the fuckin' Nighthawk; how do you think it performs with metal, punk and hardcore?
(Cue thunder, lightning, white-hot guitar riff and a burly viking dude wielding a giant battle ax)

Haha, I can see that. Just wish I had the funds to play around. I was toying around with upgrading everthing in my setup, but soundstage is no longer offering the Scout b-stock. Looks like ill have to save up some more to get the Scout 1.1. I was looking forward to the acrylic platter, but a lot of people seem to prefer the aluminum one. This phono stage looks like it might be the ticket. So the nighthawk charges? I was looking at the musical surrounds phonomena cause it was battery powered. Gonna have to check it out some more.
Awesome setup by the way!

octave got a reaction from thejesseb in Technics SL-1600MK2, anyone know anything about these.
I have one. Had it for about 15 years now and it's still chugging away. Bought it for $150 then at a pawn shop. Great table. It has an auto sensing platter so if you don't use a mat it will automatically go to the beginning of a 7" 10" or 12". Although, that feature doesn't work so well for clear records. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

I ordered this on Wednesday and it arrived Friday evening at my door. Fastest record shipping I've seen and also I live on an island!

Tends to happen. Not at this magnitude with the Beatles set slowing the plant down w/ other projects. But hey, better late than never.
Remember back in the pre-Internet days, before online pre-orders, when you had to clip out the order form and mail it with a check or money order and wait months on end for your records? Yeah...I remember that and lived through it. Maybe that's why delays never seem to bother me much at all.

octave reacted to beatnik11 in Record Collectors Are Indeed Pretentious Assholes!
Reading some of these stories makes me feel good to have never met these obsessive assholes. When I go shopping for records I usually find the experience in browsing to be a very relaxing, I take my time and thumb through everything and if something catches my eye I quickly look at the condition of the record and put it in a pile next to me. I also have a tendency to mutter my thoughts to myself which may annoy people or may just make them think I am crazy, I am not sure. As far as I am concerned though any row that I am not looking in is fair game and I usually start at the opposite end if someone is already looking through that section and when we met just quietly leapfrog around then and check out the row they were on later. At the end of the day there is nothing to get angry about even if someone else nabs up something I wanted before I got to it, hey thats great for them man

From the way I read it, he grabbed the record from the row next to the guy NOT the one he was looking through. If that is the case he didn't do anything wrong and the other guy is just an asshole.
