I hate Villains but I'm that kind of guy who loved Era Vulgaris and this last one to me sounds like Era Vulgaris part II, even if a lot less creative and inspired. So I like it more than Villains

Still hype on the album, latest single finally got me in on a PO. Loving the heavier edge on some of these tracks. 

I'll definitely pick this up as I love Thrice and the price point seems good for 2023. However, I just did a full listen and I was underwhelmed. Pretty much sounds like a really good live album. Drums and bass sound great, but then just simply combined with two guitar parts. The only overdubs I noticed were vocals.
The guest vocalists are kinda pointless, as they are never featured, they are just bgvs. I was especially hoping for more from Andy Hull. Also, the loss of strings is significant--"The Melting Point of Wax" is really subpar without them. Thrice has always been super creative and used interesting recording and production techniques, but not here. Maybe that's the point.

My copy came on Tuesday. I think I’m satisfied with how it turned out. I think I’m immune/not disappointed from marketing language like you listed about how they described the pressing. It’s very clearly a basic pressing with an insert and unique color swirl but nothing extravagant.  $35 is stupid for a single no frills lp but that’s becoming the norm and this album is not available anywhere else so it feels reasonable. It sounds pretty solid if it’s any consolation. 

What they said ☝️. The interview I found also pointed out that besides just being a friend he particularly came up with the name for that album “Lover the Lord has Left Us”. Thus the heart remembering him on the album he named. It’s cool, but definitely could have been explained so I don’t trash on someone’s “In Memoriam” design.

The Sweethearts thing on one of the covers says “Gared” instead of the typical Valentine’s Day message on it.

I also ordered the gold. I am one of the lucky few who got the FF variant, but I really want a copy with the original art. And yes it seems they are in hand and will ship now/soon!

Yeah, these turned out pretty neat. 

Somebody wake me up when they repress the self-titled album. That shit is pure MySpace/Scene-Hair era GOLD that actually holds up today. Gorgeous album and unparalleled vocals from Johnny Craig. There is no equal for the genre.

I swear it was 40-50 retail when it was first released because I specifically did not buy it because of the outrageous price, and it's still available so I’ll wait a little longer. 
 

Well yeah, this is a big factor in releases these days. Not to bring it up again, but I got kicked from the Holy Fawn discord for sharing the pressing info (not images). The band responded to me saying the labels all wanted it that way.

My conjecture: All the other dealers (Hard Times, Indies, whatever) have it in their contract to not reveal before hand.
1) To increase FOMO, to increase the chance you'll just buy the first variant that you see or gets dropped on VC. If all the links are right there nice and tidy in front of you, you're willing to take the time to get the prettier/cheaper one.
2) To make it less clear how easy it is to get the record. Here we are, all begging friends with tickets to pick us up a copy, all by guaranteeing that it will sell out at FF. Then when the announce for any others come later, we'll both be happy that there are options and they'll have 1-2 less variants to sell through.
3) Reinforces the "go visit the label IG/FB/Twitter", that's where you get the information, not through some random VC forum post that's better put together than what the Intern did in 2 days.

Well blindside just posted they’ll have 500 copies of silence with an alternate cover only at furnace fest. Fuck me

So far it’s been new bands with the exclusives. Last year was a nostalgia overload. I’m hoping we’ll get a pressing of Silence since they’ll be playing it in full

I fall into the category that listens to all the soundtracks they buy. It’s epic as shit to clean your house to terminator 2 and short 8/16-bit soundtracks are always a fun listen   
 
But on the subject of Hades and Bastion, supergiant consistently repress their shit unless it’s marked limited. My copies of Bastion and Transistor are probably from the 3rd or 4th run of them directly from supergiant
