The kids thing can't be understated, not just from a $ standpoint, but from a "when will I be able to actually sit and listen to a record" standpoint.  And it cuts both ways.  I'm not considering giving up THE  HOBBY because I still genuinely enjoy it, but I have two kids, ages six and two.  My oldest really enjoys music, has her own cheap record player and a handful of records (maybe 25 or so) that she genuinely enjoys playing in her room, which is cool to experience and watch her get into different things and look at the records, read the lyrics, follow along, etc.  And I'll put on my own quieter music when we are eating or catchier stuff if we are just hanging out on a Saturday morning or the kids want music to dance to in the living room.  But there's a very limited amount of time per week that I could listen to anything of my own that would probably be too aggressive/inaccessible for her to enjoy and/or has swearing/suggestive language on it, unless you want to put something on after the kids go to bed, which isn't ideal from a volume perspective.  I have a backlog of record albums I've purchased in the last four months that I haven't been able to listen to on my system yet.  I can listen to most new albums in the car and at work thanks to download codes, but the actual record listening experience has certainly changed.

Finally saw Midsommar and really liked it, more than Hereditary (which I thought had some silly aspects I had trouble getting past).  Can't wait to rewatch and try to take in the relevance of the art in it.

Really liking this so far, never heard of them before now.

The Great Wight was one of those bands I caught up to last year and couldn't stop spinning their album, The Suburbs Have Ruined My Life.  Turns out they changed their name recently to Proper. and signed to BSM and their new album, I Spent the Winter Writing Songs About Getting Better, is up for pre-order at https://bsmusa.limitedrun.com/products/647996.  If it's anything close to the last one it's an early contender for my AOTY.

Umbrella Academy on Netflix (from Gerard Way’s comic) is the best series I’ve seen in awhile and has really great music throughout. If you’re looking for something, I highly recommend it. 

Just got mine as well. This release deserves an “A” for “Absolurely No Fucks Given.”  
 
On the bright side it looks like mine was signed by Kendrick Lamar. 

The single didn't grab me, but Field of Reeds was a grower too and Hidden is an all-timer for me.  I also can't tell if the "acidic multicolor vinyl" is limited or is the standard pressing.  Feel free to post updates if anyone hears anything.

Sounds kind of like the Hold Steady, which is not necessarily bad, just unexpected. Need to hear more before ordering. 

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I'm going to shout out a movie I saw a while ago called Lake Mungo.  It's an Australian movie (it's positioned as a documentary and is very believable in presentation) if from about ten years ago maybe.  It's not super horrific, more of a creepy supernatural mystery maybe, but I watch a fair number of horror movies, most of which I literally never think about again, but I keep thinking about the movie every once in a while.  Seek it out.
