The new Temple of Angels song is so fuckin' good. It's taking me back to early 90's and watching 120 Minutes and seeing what new music would drop and get me hooked.

I have no words to express the gratitude and support from everyone so far. This has been an incredibly difficult and unexpected turn of events and experience. My father had been fighting cancer for two years now...for a second time...and was doing well. But three weeks ago this past Wednesday, he complained that was feeling dizzy and not all balanced. We took him to the ER and eventually was admitted and found that he had multiple small strokes in his head, a brain bleed, and a heart issue. The cancer was in his left lung. In those three weeks, his condition physically and cognitively deteriorated. On that last week, it was worse than ever and it's when doctors advised that nothing else could be done. 
He was taken to hospice on Friday mid-day and passed at 3:00pm or so right as my mother & I arrived to see him as they had notified us he had arrived and was settled in. My brother had to stay home with our dog as she's been having a very hard time with my father's absence up until then. 
It has been a great deal of a struggle so far in not only these past weeks but also due to his passing. He left us without any info on a will or life insurance or anything of the sort. So we're handling all of this on our own as best as we can. We tried to contact a number of attorneys to assist us, but they're all asking for amounts of money we do not have. Thankfully, I have a few friends locally who have been able to guide us through some things as best as they can. But it all still feels very lonely and it's most hard on my mom as she feels all alone. And we don't have family close by who can stop in and hang out and be with us in these times. 
But I am thankful for Jared for not only making this post but also looking out and all of the support and love from all you VC'ers. It's incredibly appreciated and makes me feel less alone in dealing with this. 
We knew that my father would eventually pass but not this fast. But we're comfortable in knowing that he's no longer suffering and passed peacefully and waited to go as soon as we arrived to see him. I am taking comfort in that. 
Again...thank you so much VC. I feel the love and gives me comfort.

Oh man. Takk… into Glósóli is one of the greatest openers of all time. Sæglópur (favorite SR song) and Gong are wonderful too. I’d kill for a Takk… 2.0.
I listened to about half of the new album on my way to work this morning and enjoyed it. I’m excited to blast it at home when I get some alone time soon. 

Takk… has become my favorite over the past couple years. There are so many perfect songs on there.

Are you talking about Von? Because that's by far my least favorite album of theirs. Very little magic there for me. Everything since has has infinitely more magic.

It’s bretty gud.  The drums are indeed pretty minimal but I feel like their spareness just makes them shine when they do creep in.  The closing track is pure ascension too.  One of those songs that made me stop what I was doing and ask what the fuck am I listening to? (in the best way).

Ryan said the same thing when we saw the headlining tour last year.  It was funny, in Boston he began that part of the set with a quip about "We're going to play some stuff we don't usually get to play...." and i've been yelling Yawning at them for YEARS, so I did that again because it's kind of become a joke with us, and without missing a beat, Austin immediately starts into the drum intro and I lost my shit screaming because I never expected to hear it again, and he looked right at me and laughed lol.  They're such nice people.  I love it. 
I told Ryan afterwards that I thought it fit because of the Thrice crowd being used to more high energy stuff.  My Thrice friends complained that Holy Fawn is too slow lol so I think it helps their case in this context.  We talked a bit about Gloandi too, he said he redid all of the tracks for that and remade them for the live show.  Very cool drop.  Now we need Foal next!  They teased a snippet of it in an old social media video maybe last summer or so, once touring was gearing back up.

Thanks man.  It's a thing... i hate it.  I get a lot of shit from my friends, and they all mean it in a playful teasing way, but it gets old after while you know? 
 
Yeah, Seer has become a favorite too.  That one took a bit for me to warm up to, and it was especially powerful as a closer.  I think this is the first time I haven't seen them play Arrows either. 

I'm going to put Dimensional Bleed on now, I always forget to spin it haha.  Death Spells is such a tremendous album, it kind of overshadows everything else from them for me.

Agreed, I saw them twice on that tour and they sounded so good. Golden Hair live especially was just 😮 

It's so good. I saw them touring it and it was incredible.
 
So stoked about a new Slowdive album!

This version of "Bees" in the Basement set is by far my foat.
If such a thing as "in the pocket" exists, Stella and Jen are definitely there on this track.
But aren't they always?

This is what happened except it was the other way around. Joel disappeared and Lindsay was posting weird cryptic posts with butterflies and spiders. It was pretty sad.

*Solace repress and C:D press, right?  At least with Solace, it exists and you can chase it down on vinyl if you want to shell out.  It’d be so nice to have SOS and C:D on the shelf someday, though.
They were in the works before Mylene had their internal drama / meltdown and completely dissolved.  Such a damn shame.  Those 2 albums and the couple of LPs from Evpatoria Report are probably the biggest “maybe someday…” wishlist records from my post-rock years.
