Emperor - Complete Works Box Set

Recommended Posts

For some reason I thought the Moonsorrow box set was $600 for the die hard version, but I'm likely wrong and didn't pay attention to that release b/c I'm not really into the band.  I think my assessment of $1K is high, but I look for this thing to be pretty damn pricey.  Would love to have it, but I have all their records, so it's not out of necessity.  Plus, again, that bank transfer deal kinda freaks me out.  Sucks so many people have caused issues for BM that this is the route they have to take.

I thought you may have been right, but I just looked it up out of curiosity and the die hard was $375. So the range was $300-$375 with $25 increments for each level. This is supposedly going to put that box to shame and there was a hell of a lot more work involved. So I think around $500 for the simplest configuration (again, if those are going to exist) is likely.

From Facebook:

Emperor “The Complete Works” will be a 24-LP, one 7”, and one book box set.

This will be the largest extreme metal box set of all-time, nearly twice as large as the one preceding it.

It will also be (as far as I'm aware), the 2nd largest vinyl box set in the history of modern music.

Many people have asked how Emperor official (with only four albums) has enough material to fill this many discs. The answer is that the material has been cut in full at 45-RPM, which provides higher fidelity in playback. This is a format often reserved for audiophile cuts of classic jazz, blues, and orchestral performances.

Months were spent combing through Emperor's back catalog of official and unofficial releases - all the while coordinating with the band - before settling on a final track listing. Ultimately, the box set contains every official Emperor release in its “most official” form, as well as a good handful of unofficial ones which are being made official for the first time ever.

As a testament to one of the greatest bands of all time, no expense was spared in the creation of this set, and it even had to be mastered for vinyl in full twice. As mentioned earlier this year, the original mastering was rejected as not being faithful to the original Emperor sound, and everything had to be remastered again from scratch. I have purchased Emperor discs pressed at different times for comparison and am confident that this is the highest level of quality this material will ever achieve, matching or beating out all their previous pressings.

This will be a very bold experiment in immortalizing the greatest and one of the most influential bands in all of extreme music. Arguably, Emperor has converted more fans (myself included) into becoming worshipers of black metal than any other band in history.

The box set is a presentation in 15 parts, which will start being introduced now ...

It has been written...

700 Euros and somewhere between 75-150 for shipping. Cashier's check is the other primary method besides bank transfer. Welp, it's been fun.

LOL!!!!!!

So I was right, $1,000 with shipping, give or take a few bones. The set sounds ridiculously awesome, but there are far better things I can spend a grand on.
