Though the packaging looks awesome.
psus2h
Saw this earlier today, too disappointed to start a thread. Why even bother if it's a pic disc? 74R

simple_torture
Hoping the price comes down in 6 months or so. 74R
dantheriver
Glad to see the normal picture disc reactions ITT. Got really confused when a bunch of people were stoked to order that Owen pic disc from Polyvinyl.
stranaspank
At first I was disappointed because, based on the picture, I thought they were single sided LPs with a screened cover. A total waste of six LPs. Then I realized they were picture discs. A total waste of six LPs. bungie
Mars
I don't own any picture discs, so I am curious - why does everyone hate them so much? Does the picture affect the sound?
timsimmons
It's not vinyl, it's plastic. So you won't get a decent fidelity.
highfives
They are also inherently noisy.
bungie
Yes. Picture discs almost always sound like garbage. Somebody correct me on this if I'm wrong please, but my understanding is that the picture sandwiched in the middle allows for a much more shallow groove which in turn affects overall fidelity. A real shame these are on picture discs for sure! Looks like it would be a great set to own otherwise. Pass.
tonyfranciosa
I have maybe 1 or 2 picture discs that are listenable... too risky at that price.
chipfondoo
Yeah, I will just wait for popmarket to sell them in about a year. clerk3745

A real shame these are on picture discs for sure! Looks like it would be a great set to own otherwise. Pass. That's my understanding as well. Because there is a piece of paper in the middle of the two slabs of vinyl, the depths of the grooves are, by nature, shallower and therefore lose fidelity. I'm not sure if that is the reason they're plagued with surface noise or not. But after dropping ~$40 on the "official" version of Lateralus, I'll be skipping any and all picture discs from now on. StandupPaul
I'll buy it if I can find it on the cheap, but sadly the picture disc factor is putting me off too. Pity, as as usual Josh's artwork is killer.
stranaspank
Picture discs are little more than flexis sandwiching a photo.
STÖNCÜLD
I have never bought a picture disc, but would like to see a side by side comparison of an album one regular vinyl and the other a picture disc. Just searched YouTube and didn't see an example, someone who has two copies of something regular and picture disc should make that video. lotsalemon
They could have done so much better with this release. I'm really disappointed they're picture discs as well.
Guest
Picture discs are little more than flexis sandwiching a photo. There are different ways to make picture discs and that is one of them.
vinyl addict
Im going to pass as well. Though $160 isn't a bad price for a 6LP box set. Too bad its pic discs...boooo Are you listening, Soundgarden? LOL

kannibal
We all agree that the price and picture discs are non-starters here. I have the CD set, and I'm a huge Soundgarden fan, and really only disc 1 is worth a full double LP price. The B-sides disc is really great, quality Soundgarden (except for Exit Stonehenge, that should have been on disc 3 IMO). Disc two, the covers, is OK. There are some great songs, but mostly middle of the road stuff that doesn't do much for me. Except for Black Days III and Karaoke, disc 3 is a complete throw away as its experimental instrumentals and remixes. Pricing this set like its three Superknowns worth of material is really out of touch and even a bit arrogant and reeks of taking advantage of your fans. I guess they got away with a not so special reissue of Superunknown for $60, so they figured they'd just roll with it. Ok. Got that off my chest. bungie
