Sad Heart
I think one of the nicest bands from these days was Alexisonfire. I remember seeing them at the Norva in Norfolk, VA. This was Crisis era. They played with Norma Jean and someone else. I met all those dudes at the upstairs bar, and we just talked for a good 10 minutes about music and normal shit. They were all super down to earth. Signed my ticket stub and thanked me for coming. They then proceeded to destroy that venue. Damn, that was a good night. Derek™
damn that sucks :\ The Used lost me when Bert stopped screaming. Their early shit was sooooo good. '07 was right after Lies for the Liars came out. There was maybe 2 or 3 good tracks on that record. We just wanted them to play early songs but they didn't play any. Those first two Used albums were totally my shit in high school. I even owned them on vinyl at one point. Whoops. I agree that they took a nasty tumble with Lies; I couldn't bring myself to even listen to anything after that, curiosity be damned.

rooks
I think Good Old War was the chillest dudes I've ever met in my life. Maybe aside from Leighton Antelman from Lydia. the Christmas show Anthony Green used to do in Philly with Good Old War was so awesome. GOW kept asking what songs they should play and I screamed out TSOAF and Days Away tracks. Keith heard me and they fucked around a little. But, having AG and Good Old War bring everyone up on stage (and I mean Everyone) to sing their last song with them... Cool show. Cool dudes. The early vids of Bert in his super-depressed angry prime where he's screaming so hard he vomits on stage. Woulda killed to see that. '07 ToC lineup was great but by then Cove was in Saosin, Senses Fail had just released Still Searching and The Used had just put out Lies.... everyone but Chiodos barely screamed. Bladewillisisdead
I saw AOF in 2004. The entire front row was middle school aged kids. The crowd was completely still for all the opening bands. Codeseven didn't play any of their heavier stuff. 5 seconds into AOF's set shit was going off and there was a SWARM of parents running from the bar at the back and pulling their kids away from the front. My first stage dive ever was during Water Wings. My second was during Pulmonary Archery. George seemed like a nice guy. Afterwards he was in the crowd talking to all the kids. Sad Heart
I know this is going to be a little on the hardcore / metal side, but does anyone remember Scarlet? This was my jam in 2006. It's all I listened to that year. Funny thing is, I later went on to become friends with the singer, and tour with his new band for about 8 years. Crazy that just a few years later that the singer started another band that was on the other end of the spectrum (this is the band I toured with for like 8 years): But before they were Scarlet or Conditions they were FIAD. This was my emo / screamo band. This is all I fucking listened to. I remember seeing them in high school play with little restaurant in the middle of nowhere VA. It was amazing. http://www.purevolume.com/fiad--- Listen to the song 'Verse'.

rooks
Oh shit I actually totally forgot. I worked at a record shop in High School down the Jersey Shore that Anthony Green used to go to when he was a kid. Him, his wife, and their little dog strolled in the day I was filling out my application. I saw him and it didn't quite register. Kept filling out my application and then I just couldn't shake it... asked the owner "Is that.. is that Anthony Green?" "Yeah, he's been coming in since he was a little kid buying Nirvana records." "Holy fuck." Ran over and met him and his wife and pet his dog. nicest fucking people ever. Had a picture of me cheesing like a schoolgirl with him and his dog that his wife took as my profile picture on Fbook for months.

Sad Heart
No shit - I used to listen to Conditions. I owned their EP. I added FIAD to that post, which is the band they were in during High School thinking they were screamo. If you look up their album 'Midnight In Your Room', that's the album they didn't have any screaming and loved Brand New. FIAD (2000) > FIAD (2004) [screamo] > Scarlet (2006) [Hardcore] > Conditions (2007) [Rock / Pop] I'll send you any FIAD and Conditions stuff you want. I think FIAD would hit your emo / screamo fix nicely. + FIAD /// Demo /// 2005 /// https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxTkVbAmS8__NUF4ajBIcEdQbFE/view?usp=sharing + FIAD /// Midnight In Your Room /// 2000 /// https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxTkVbAmS8__QzVyWXZ3U2FGSUk/view?usp=sharing
deafening
This song was my jam. The breakdown in the middle of the song with the autotune on his vocals is golden. As soon as I saw the name a voice in my head screamed "DEATH. TO. DIS-TRAC-TION!" I listened to that song soooo much. parkinglot
Anyone say A Skylit Drive yet? They're fucking terrible, but I remember them as one of the few bands I was jamming around the time I discovered Pneuma and grew up. Pneuma was one of the records that got you out of wiener rock? If so, same here.

Bladewillisisdead
Since by Man Forgot about them. Got their LP for like $5. Missed them play with Fear Before the March of Flames, Bear vs Shark, and a few other EVR bands. Really I'm just forever depressed I missed BvS so many times. Derek™
Pneuma was one of the records that got you out of wiener rock? If so, same here. Yeah, more or less. It wasn't immediate, but it definitely opened up a lot of avenues to new genres and better artists.
