PO NOW: Japanese Breakfast - "Soft Sounds From Another Planet" (Out 07.14.17)

Recommended Posts

I'm so excited to finally share a small piece of the album I poured myself into with my creative partner Craig Hendrix, who co-produced the album and played every instrument on the record with me, with the exception of the sax solo David Bartler ripped on this track & some trumpets Asher Brooks tooted later on. Jorge Elbrecht who mixed it into magic and Heba Kadry who mastered it to perfection.

You can preorder it here! https://japanesebreakfast.lnk.to/softsounds

First single also released today! Really liking the new vibes.

Secretly Society is also selling a bundle with the red record, the CD, a cassette with midi versions of the songs, and a companion book too:

It comes out to $42. Kinda steep, but I got it anyway because I have the deluxe of Psychopomp too. I saw her last night and it was incredible! The new songs sound amazing.

Were the new songs all in the same vein as the first single, or is this one more of an exception?

From  what I remember, the new ones sounded more in-line with the Psychopomp stuff, but she only played like 3 or 4 new ones. If I had to guess, I would say the new album will probably have a few songs like Machinist too. One of the new songs was a fleshed-out reworking of Road Head and it was phenom.

Thanks a lot! Not sure how I feel about Machinist, which is why I asked.

Just noticed there was an orange variant that was sold at her Tokyo show. If anyone sees a link to buy it/has one to trade let me know!

Just snagged one from here! Looks like there were only 200 copies pressed for this.

Just ordered mine. So glad I held off on getting this one. So many variants, but orange vinyl with an obi strip is hard to top.

Thank You! Been looking for a reasonable variant of this. Cant resist an OBI strip

Same here! Waiting was totally worth it, that obi strip kills. Yesterday I tried to get one from HelloMerch site and they were gone, now they are gone from JB site too.

heads up, looks like the Orange variant is back up for "pre-order" again. Third time its been back up no? im wondering if its really just 200 pressings of these or they decided to make more of them. cant wait to get mines in, eases the pain of missing out on the red variant bundle

Nice, grabbed one. We'll see what happens.

Posted today on her Facebook page:

"We just found a box of the Japanese pressing of Soft Sounds From Another Planet on orange vinyl.
Only 60 copies available and then they're all gone.

Interesting, not that it matters but the 3 times they went up for sale, I added 50 to my cart each time out of curiosity, the first time it adjusted down to 32, the second and third time it went up for sale, I could add 50 to my cart without it adjusting. Could be that they just took it down once a few sold and put them back up to give people a chance. Nonetheless I'm happy to have snagged such a limited and lovely looking variant, hope everyone that wanted one got through

I feel like this band is way more popular than LittleBigLeague ever were despite them both being equally as good as each other. I mean, the most limited variant /300 of their second LP still hasnt sold out 4 years later (and even has the first version of Boyish from this album) yet this album sells out of multiple pressings. Just thought I'd let those of you know that haven't checked out her other band.
