¯\_(ツ)_/¯
did boston extend Ellsbury a QO?
BuzzersonKillwell
Cano reportedly wants, what, $260 million? I'm glad the Sox didn't make a similar offer to Ells, great player but I don't want that contract.

rambo
LOLYankees how long before the Dodgers trade for Ellsbury?
paintedinexile
Apparently teams haven't learned after Pujols, Hamilton, Fielder and others. The money isn't the problem, it's the contract length. I'd be okay with someone paying Cano $25 million a year, but at only five years or so. These 7-10 year contracts need to stop. If that player doesn't perform, good luck finding someone willing to take on the rest of the contract. sjb2k1
sjb2k1
i will say though, that lefty swing should work out real well in new yankee stadium jinxed.
BuzzersonKillwell
did boston extend Ellsbury a QO? "The Red Sox earned a supplemental first-round pick for presenting Ellsbury a qualifying offer for $14.1 million in 2014" I assume this is what you were wondering? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
they also lose the signing money out of their draft pool.
crime
I hate Ellsbury for going to the Yankees. But you have to laugh at that contract, especially with his injury history. I guess the Yankees are trying to buy themself a title after last years dismal season.
thebiglebowski
Mentioned this a couple pages back. Tons of money + arbitration of young players = ridiculous contracts for FAs. Some of that money has to go to players. They know the contracts are bad, they just have money to burn. If every baseball fan has realized that 7+ year deals turn sour most of the time, don't you think the GMs have too? They just don't care. lemongoat
Billy Beane is like an Indie rocker that pours his heart and soul into his music so he can play in front of 80 people. The Yankees are like Miley Cyrus and just whip their tits out and sell 5 million records.

crime
Mlb needs max contract lengths There really is no need for a contract longer than 5 years. Details of the Pierzynski were released. $8.2 million. That's way too much money for him.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
contract lengths will never happen without some form of a salary cap though, so its all just wishful thinking
