IMO all games should have the same value. 3 for regulation win, 2 for SO/OT win, 1 for SO/OT loss and 0 for regulation loss. Of course it won't happen, because it would create more separation in the standings and they wouldn't have the "5 teams within 7 points of the 8th playoff spot!" narrative.
