Post a PIC Of Your Collection (Band or Label ONLY)

Recommended Posts

OK here's one for you...

All my Cure 7"s. The Cure is probably the band I have the second-most records by (The Damned being the first). At least when it comes to 7"s. I don't have nearly as many LPs/12"s.

If there is more than one copy it is because they are from different countries or have different labels.

i've been trying to build up my cure collection.

they are one of my top favorite bands, and vinyl is the format i own the least of their material on.

if you have any duplicates of disintegration, wish or pornography, and want to let them go for a fair price, or possible trade please let me know.

i'd also like to pick up wild mood swings and bloodflowers eventually.

there is a store downtown that has had both on the shelf for years, never selling because they are priced at $40 each.

i've tried to talk the owner down before but he refuses.

MXV, what are the details on the yellow copy in the second row from the top (second from the left, next to the teal green) in this picture:

http://www.spontaneous.com/pix/936damnedinches.jpg

I recently won a copy of Damned Damned Damned on eBay that was not even marked/described as being on color, and it was this one. I'd love to know what it's out of/what pressing it's from.

If I'm right it seems that it's the 1989 press /2000.

That is the one on Frontier Records as is the one to the right of it. There was both transparent yellow and then opaque yellow vinyl. I'm not sure how many they ended up making. Next time I talk to Lisa I'll ask if she remembers. It came out a long time ago, probably early 1990s I think.

I don't even have "Wish" on vinyl myself, and I don't think I have "Wild Mood Swings" either in that format. I have a few different variations of Pornography but I have no spares of anything.

I don't have a US "Close to Me". Did it come with a picture sleeve? I may have never bothered to get one if it did for the fact that the UK one was much nicer (and had a poster sleeve).

the US 12" for original version Close to Me was actually the "Quadpus" e.p. it was the equivalent of the "Half an Octopuss" 10" in the UK.

That I have (the 10" and I think also the 12"). Soon I'll make a photo of the 12"/10" I have. It's not nearly as many as these 7"s.

I believe the only US vinyl version was the original release from 1985 without a picture sleeve. I don't know why it's such a tough find.

OK here's my meager collection of LPs/12"/10" of The Cure. In taking this I realized I'm missing quite a few of even the not so rare ones. For example I guess I never got original pressings of "Faith" and "Seventeen Seconds" since I had "Happily Ever After" which had both of those in a single package. And for some reason I though I had "Concert a Cure Live" but I guess I only had it on cassette cuz it had a whole ton of unreleased stuff that never made it to vinyl. I remember buying the vinyl of that LP when I was in high school but I gave it to this girl I liked at the time.

A lunch box takes any collection to fanboy status.

It actually has a pretty practical use in my house...haha...I put all of my buttons/patches/stickers/other shit in it so it isn't cluttered all around my apartment...

The wonder years is really the only band I collect to that extent though...It used to be Blink 182 but I got started too late and all of their singles were so expensive... Plus everyone collects Blink so it makes it that much harder to get ahold of anything...

Defiance 7" - Vermiform - last press - black labels, sleeve printed on inside

Defiance 7" - Vermiform - last press - TEST PRESS - new stampers, earlier presses used Combined effort plates.

Life's Blood / Sticks and Stones split 7" - Radcore/Forefront - Reversed labels, Total Press of 2000

Life's Blood / Sticks and Stones split 7" - Radcore/Forefront - Normal labels, red on sleeve, Total Press of 2000

Murders Among Us Comp 7" - Combined Effort - 2ndPress - Fold-out poster sleeve, white labels (b/w photo of dog)

Collapse - s/t 7" - HLH - Post Life's Blood band with John Kriksciun on drums, Sean who sang for LB at the end (New Breed tape comp), and Sergio Vega (Quicksand) on bass.

Notes:

1) A small number of "Jesus sleeves" were made for a Life's Blood show at Lismar Lounge in 1988. I have heard that 30,42,45, or 50 were made. Regardless, it was a small number. However, it appears that not all the sleeves made were sold at that show and were used several years later when vermiform repressed the 7" - supposedly when they ran out of their sleeves. Thus, this sleeve can be found with a silver label combined effort record or a white label Vermiform record. Not sure how the numbers break down between the presses. ** It would be an easy thing to fake anyway.

2) Unsure of the total number pressed on Combined Effort. Silver labels should be 1st press, red labels the second. Some of the red label records have the combined effort address crossed out (after they folded) or with stickers for the NY Vermiform address. The sleeves on the 2nd press appear slightly shinier.

3) A total of 4,166 were pressed on Vermiform from 4 individual pressings. Not sure how they numbers break down for each press. However, the earlier pressings should have the original NY Vermiform address. The later pressings will have a new Richmond, VA address sticker. Some may not have a Life's blood booklet. Vermiform had new stampers made for what i imagine is the last of the 4 pressings ( in 1996 - see new test press). These records have a printed inner sleeve and new black labels. The earlier Vermiform pressings used the same stampers as the Combined Effort presses. Not sure if they ran a new set of tests before the vermiform pressings.

4) A total 2000 were pressed of the Life's Blood/Sticks and Stones split 7". Some records have reversed and non-reversed labels. My normal labels version had the sleeve colored red; however, i have seen versions that are not colored. Not sure how the numbers break down for different versions or if they are different presses.

5) A total of about about 2,500 Murders Among Us comp 7" were pressed. Not sure how the numbers break down between the pressings. The earlier combined effort/ Vermiform press is a glued sleeve, while the later Vermiform press has a fold out poster sleeve. Both presses have the same matrix, but different labels. The earlier press has silver labels with purple ink, and a drawn picture of a bulldog on the B-side. The later press has white labels with black ink and a b/w photo of a dog on the B side

6) Life's Blood were also on the "Where the Wild Things Are" comp 12" on Blackout Records. The 1st Press came on gold (1000) and black/gold (1000). The 2nd Press had 2000 on Black and 500 on red. This record was recently repressed by Link records with a different cover. A limited number of these were pressed on blue wax, and i have also seen clear and a picture disc. Life's Blood were also on the New Breed tape comp (1000 made) with Sean, not Jason O-Toole singing. They also had a demo tape, which i hear there are two versions. Supposedly, sometime "soon" Prank Records is issuing a 2x12" discography, which should be more complete than the Vermiform CD (2,166 were pressed of that in 1996). It should have all the material listed above plus, the unreleased Don Fury '88 sessions, the entire live set recorded for the new breed comp, and lives sets from WNYU and WFMU (some of which was used on the Sticks and Stones split 7").

7) Matt Gard of Radio Riot fame put of the Collapse 7" several years after they broke up. I also have a copy of a this 7" with a screened sleeve, which is out of 29.
