timsimmons
It's $100 for a 4lp. If its not a big box set it certainly is extremely overpriced. That I agree with. But it's not botched. This is a pretty great set.
timsimmons
Can't really blame them for gouging seeing as what an original pressing goes for on eBay

vinylfilmaholic
Man, Mellon Collie is my favorite album of all-time. This will probably be the only time in my life that I will spend $100 on a single record. Really wish I wouldn't have to spend that much, but oh well. Hopefully they keep the original CD tracklisting for the vinyl, because I downloaded a vinyl rip of the original pressing and the mismatched tracklisting bugged me. XYU Apparently the video footage comes from a PBS special so it's possible that that is all that exists at this point. I imagine we'll know for sure once the official announcement comes. That said, I find it very hard to believe there's not a complete show from the era in the archives that they could have used. Botched? Really? Because there are 14 tracks on the DVD and the vinyl track list isn't the same as the original pressing? No, botched because they're forcing us to buy unnecessary, excessive packaging to get the audio material and needlessly adding another LP to an already huge package. (Before you shout "Sound quality!", both sides of the 'Gish' reissue are as long if not longer than any of the sides of a 3xLP set would be and it sounds just fine.) Maintaining the original running order would have been nice but I can understand why they chose not to. There should be an option that matches the boxes we've already got and offer all the extra, superfluous stuff in a super deluxe set for those that want it. dreamover
billy had this to say about the shortened show: Billy CorganVerified @Billy @robdy2k fans need to stop complaining about the brixton show because that other footage is MISSING. Blame somebody else buddy cause that other footage is MISSING. Blame somebody else buddy and he said the double door shows are being considered for the aeroplane reissue. almightyseancore and stranaspank

nivek87
stoked for the melon collie reissue, not stoked about the probable price tag. although it will be a hell of a lot cheaper than the ones on ebay.

crapforgenius
agreed, though to be fair, an official announcement hasn't been made yet. Right, but at the same time Superdeluxeedition got their info direct from EMI and there was no mention of why the whole show wasn't there. timsimmons
No, botched because they're forcing us to buy unnecessary, excessive packaging to get the audio material and needlessly adding another LP to an already huge package. You're not forced to buy anything. If you want to argue its too expensive, thats fine. I'd agree. But the price doesn't negatively affect the content of the set. Botched pricing sure. Botched release? Hardly.

But the price doesn't negatively affect the content of the set. Botched pricing sure. Botched release? Hardly. Fine, but my core argument is that it's too expensive when it doesn't have to be. "Forced" in the sense that if you want the 3 discs of bonus material, you either have to go digital (which I think everyone here can agree is not an ideal option in any sense of the word) or buy all that extra non-musical crap. There's no reason there can't be a set to match what came before. So botched formatting then. In any case, this is a huge miss for me. Also, the above press release is official enough and no mention of why the show is incomplete. glass realms
timsimmons
Chester Copperpot on YouTube put together one of his awesome edits of the whole show with the Proshot footage and fan boots. Same with the audio. I watched a bit of it this morning. Pretty great.

pablod85
This is 57 euro shipped from amazon.it (about US $73) so I guess the price will drop $20-25 at amazon.com as soon as the pre-order at the band's website is up. Otherwise, it wouldn't make any sense.
nelso330
So do people think the PREORDER price will be cheaper than the IN-STORE price...like at local records stores, hot topic, Amoeba and so on? I cant imagine small indie shops being able to move a lot of these at $90-$100 a pop! Jesus, I am a bit disheartened by this news: 1. Too high of a price (and nothing to justify the vinyl price, they could at least give a digital download of the bonus stuff! come one!) 2. Tracklisting same as CD...well will still be broken up for sides but now 8! 3. Artwork change I just sold my bootleg copy...so I can use the money from that to cover it! but still...I think ill wait to pick up IN STORE
dreamover
Definitely wont be cheaper in stores.
