Floods are no bueno. We had massive floods here two summers ago - it was on the news everywhere. Mostly because the zoo flooded and the seals were found all over the city.

Aww :( I'm such a softie for animals. They were probably terrified and maybe a little happy to be out of captivity

in 2011 with all the flooding (that flooded my basement, too) the two bison at zoo america (attached to hersheypark) died and it was a huuuuuge deal:

Here's an interesting graphic.

 

This graphic juxtaposes the population alongside the Grand Canyon. Apparently, even all of humanity throughout history, across all the ages - estimated to be 106 billion - would only be enough to make 15 piles across the Grand Canyon and not sufficient to cover its entirety.
