hallowken78
I'll vouch for that Disney Trick or Treat record. It's got the story/songs from the classic Disney short and then the B side is The Haunted Mansion. Definitely a nice little slice of Halloween nostalgia, especially for anyone who grew up watching any of the various iterations of Disney's Halloween Treat special. Han Solo
This is a great thread. Props for preparing two months early. This is a really good one and pretty easy to find. Halloween records are mildly difficult to run into in the wild - I look for them all year and find a new one about once every month or two. The best thing to do is to hit record stores and check out the Children's and the Oddities sections, that's usually where you'll find them. Sometimes in Soundtracks, but not usually. For the most part you'll be picking them up for about $5 each Monastic_mike and WAXXX

Kind of confusing though since there is a 1964 version and a 1979 version and while having the same name they have mostly completely different content. The 1964 version is the better and MUCH more popular version but these are perfect for kids especially since one side has stories and then the other side is just sound effects to help tell your own scary story. I agree it is tough finding just about any Halloween titles in the wild! I run across probably 4-500 Christmas albums for every couple Halloween records sadly. It makes digging that much more satisfying when you do finally come across one though! I just started re-collecting Halloween records again after losing the majority of them in a move so I have been doing some major digging. videodrome_1138
Coming up in October, Waxwork Records is releasing the soundtrack to Mad Monster Party, which would be a fun addition. There are a few comps out there that are bunch of rare 50s, 60s and 70s horror songs. https://www.discogs.com/Various-Its-A-Monster-Bash-Party-Vol1/release/4950156 https://www.discogs.com/Various-Ghouls-Night-Out-Volume-1/master/617807 https://www.discogs.com/Various-Ghouls-Night-Out-Volume-2/master/679530 I saw someone recommended the Frankie Stein records and also the Ghouls (which I couldn't recommended enough, especially the Ghouls). This is one of my favorite 45s that I own, it's a promo 45 put out by this horror host in Syracuse New York named Baron Daemon. https://www.discogs.com/Baron-Daemon-The-Vampires-The-Transylvania-Twist-Ghost-Guitars/release/6387861The two songs are so amazing. It's kinda pricey but well worth it. This Munsters album is another great Halloween album if you can get your hands on one. https://www.discogs.com/Munsters-The-Munsters/release/3997698 This is also one of my personal favorites. https://www.discogs.com/Wade-Denning-With-Kay-Lande-Halloween/master/674354 It's Wade Dennings and Kay Lande, who put out other kid records way back when. Again, it is kinda pricey but I've definitely seen it in cheap bins. I think people see the record and assume it's garbage. The song Halloween Dance is so fun and catchy. You can check it out here hype and Monastic_mike
videodrome_1138
Also, there is this pretty cheap German disco album that's a tribute to John Carpenter themes. How could you not love a dancy version of the Halloween theme? https://www.discogs.com/The-Splash-Band-The-Music-Of-John-Carpenter/release/130618 Also, to tide you over until you get some of those records this website http://www.aquariumdrunkard.com has made some amazing free mixtapes of old halloween/horror music. The comps are called Trick or Treat. I think they're up to volume 9 and each one is well over an hour long. There are some great and rare songs on them. I listen to them year round. hype and Monastic_mike

I think I only have that one record from you, but it was really well put together! Totally worth picking up. I'm a big Harley Poe fan and have worked with Joe on things before. I was actually just looking at that comp - I'm going to buy it at some point either way, but could you tell me which song HP covered for it? I've been working for HH for a decade or so - I'm not the mastermind or anything, but I'm pretty much his Igor. The Harley Poe track is Newborn (Muse cover of the song featured in High Tension). Here's the rest of the track listing in case anyone is interested (FYI, the last 2 tracks only available as digital bonus tracks - they aren't on the vinyl): 1) HorrorHound – It’s Only A Movie 2) The Creepshow – People Are Strange 3) Argyle Goolsby – Save Me Tonight 4) For The Wolf – He’s Back (The Man Behind The Mask) 5) Stellar Corpses – Power Of The Night 6) The Big Bad – Red Right Hand 7) Dead Dick Hammer – Life At Last 8) Shadow Windhawk – Stigmata Martyr 9) The Heathens – Burn 10) Black Cat Attack – Partytime 11) Psycho Charger – Pet Sematary 12) Harley Poe – NewBorn 13) Mister Monster – Looking For The Magic (digital bonus) 14) The Heathens – Hellraiser (digital bonus)

If you have the slightest taste in rock and halloween give it a listen...here is a youtube link ... I was there and was blown away at the bands creation from this release.... The band basically made their own visual display and add on to this wonderous piece of music....Its an hour but all video from the show...give it a listen ... you will enjoy! mameeshkamowskwoz
Pretty much anything (especially the newer stuff) by Messer Chups is great. They're a Russian surf rock band with lots of spooky sound effects and 50s horror movie sound bytes.https://www.discogs.com/artist/76682-Messer-Chups It's 95% instrumental and kid friendly for the most part. For me, though, hands down the best Halloween album is Director's Cut by Fantomas, but it's a bit heavy and I don't think kids would dig it, but it's definitely worth checking out.
