Schnickerbwee04
Hello, I am relatively new to record collecting and as my first real splurge I am going to buy a 1957 record (songs by Sam Cooke) and I was wondering what outer sleeve I should buy to make sure it lasts as long as possible. It will be displayed so it will not be touching any other covers for a very long time. I’m not very picky when it comes to clarity so I really do not mind how see through it is. Thank you for you help
poweredbytrust
it's for display but you don't mind how clear it is? might as well leave it in the mailer altogether... also: in b4 cat gifs

AlexH.
How will you be displaying it? Personally, I'd go with a frame of some kind if you're not going to be playing it. Otherwise, pretty much any outer sleeve from Bags Unlimited or Sleeve City ought to be adequate. You won't be able to get just one, though. Stress On The Sky
If it's a display piece I'd definitely go for a record frame, they are easy to come by these days and you can then mount it on your wall. If you want to display but also play it you'll have to suck it up and buy a pack of 25-50 sleeves. Avoid thick PVC as this can cause outgassing over time which will degrade playback. Or you can try the "Stress On The Sky vinyl owner approved method" and laminate the entire thing and stick to the wall with blue tack for that extra dazzle factor. hype
This is Samuel Cooke we are talking about so I say you just go balls to the wall and treat yo self to the nearest haven aka Urban Outfitters and get yourself a fancy little record frame then head upstairs to get the flyest fucking outfit to present that framed masterpiece to future company BUT ONLY wear this outfit when you first introduce people to it and friend, those two pieces will last you a lifetime! timsimmons
Don't forget to replace the inner sleeve too. you must use the perfect inner sleeve 1. a white perfect square with view label hole 2. no corner cuts (so ugly) 3. no lip (so ugly) 4. if possible the paper fold glued on the inside so the sleeve looks same front and back AlexH.
Roandy55
An original VG/VG+ copy can be picked up on discogs for between £25-£60. How much were you planning on splurging? https://www.discogs.com/sell/release/3367181?ev=rb
TheGhostOfRandySavage
If you're just looking for one sleeve you can probably pick one up from your local record store for $.25 or less. Hell, they might even take pity on you and just give you one.

I don't think people who buy records to display and insure they don't touch other covers goto actual record stores Edited April 12, 2018 by youspinmeround
