This song really rips. I pre-ordered the Heat Death variant. Thanks for posting!

$50 sale price = $50 in revenue
$31 original purchase price + $10.50 seller fees + $5 shipping costs + $2 packaging + $4.50 mileage write-off for trip to post office = $53 expense
Looks like a $3 loss to me!

Here is a simple test: if you are selling to make a profit, report as business income. If you are selling to clear shelf space for more new records, report as personal income.
If you wait in line for 6 hours at RSD and buy 25 titles to flip for a 50% profit, you can make a clear business case.
If you sold a copy of Rumors that you listened to 75 times over the years for $20 so you could buy something else for your collection, then that's not business income and you probably shouldn't write off the $8 you spent on the record.

Keep in mind here that you only have to pay tax on the profits you make.
You'll file this as self-employment tax. If you sell $1,000 worth of shit in discogs but you paid $900 for it, you only owe the government taxes on the $100 in profit. You'll report $1000 in sales and $900 in expenses.
Edit: you might need to file this as capital gains tax. Records likely fall under collectibles here, in which case your net gains are taxed at 28% regardless of income bracket. Fun stuff. What this really means is that prices are going to go up to make up for the additional hit to profit.

You should probably delete this post. If the IRS sees this, you will owe the government money. You can't sell 10k worth of stuff without paying any taxes on it. At least not legally. The new law doesn't mean you now have to pay taxes on these sales. This has always been the case. The new law just changes the requirements for companies like PayPal and Venmo in terms of who gets a 1099 and how they have to report things.

Discogs should add a field so you can record how much you paid for a record and upload a receipt.

Not true. PayPal explicitly stated that this is for Goods and Services transactions only. https://newsroom.paypal-corp.com/2021-11-04-New-US-Tax-Reporting-Requirements-Your-Questions-Answered

ntslash reacted to [Banned User] in Preorders🤬
My vinyl collection is only preorders. In fact, once the preorder does ship to me, I simply return it and then remove it from my collection. Then I preorder something new to take its place.

Yes. You're the only person in the world who gets frustrated waiting for something that gets pushed back. You're very unique and special.

ntslash got a reaction from coolio in Radiohead - Kid A / Amnesiac 21st Anniversary Reissue (KID A Mnesia)
Got my copy from Plaid Room last night. I've listened to Kid A and Amnesiac but not the bonus disc. No issues with pops or sibilance for me on either disc. This definitely sounds better than my OG 10" copies, most notably on Idioteque and Pakt Like Sardines. Really brought out sounds I'd never noticed before, which is saying a lot given how many times I have listened to these albums.

This is spot on. I really wanted the Fillmore pressing but balked at the price. Now it's 5x the price and I am really regretting my decision not to buy.

I think that Live At The Fillmore 2xLP was like $60 or $80. That seemed egregious. $40 for a single LP is tough. But these will sell out and you'll be left with discogs prices if you want to get one at that point. I wouldn't normally buy a $40 single LP but I have the 2009 press and I get nervous when playing it because it is so irreplaceable. I don't feel great about the price but I snagged one of these anyway. Its just going to be more expensive later.

Cheaper than I expected. I was hoping they would do an alternate album cover for this one, but I went ahead and ordered.

I'm calling $60 plus shipping for a single LP.
