chiefwahoo reacted to isavedlatin54 in Angus OST - Green Day, Weezer, Smoking Popes, Etc.
I'm going to say this was well worth a two year old thread being bumped. Someone do this

Seriously, not the biggest fan of all the bands on the soundtrack but it so perfectly sums up what was good about the 90s.

Any update?
BTW- I cannot find ANY information about an original (limited) vinyl pressing. Discogs, Popsike, Google... nothing. Does a pressing even exist?

chiefwahoo reacted to toxicity in PO: Chuck Ragan - Till Midnight
I've listened to this several times now and this is easily my least favorite Chuck Ragan album. I feel like his songwriting has taken a step backwards, as most of the songs are really simple. Track 1 is a perfect example of this. It's also overall a bit too twangy for my taste. My fiance loves Chuck, and even she's not sure what to think about this album. Super disappointed in this.

put them in the microwave for 2-3 minutes each.
(but seriously, no. You can look for scratches and warp, but nothing else.)

chiefwahoo reacted to mrewest in PO NOW! Manchester Orchestra "Cope" and Headlining Tour with B&C, Kevin Devine
Haven't taken the time to read all 18 pages here to get an idea of what everyone's take is on the album so here are my unbiased thoughts...
I feel like MO is proof why it's bad for bands to rest on their laurels and not to evolve their sound. I know I'm guilty of turning a nose when a band releases a new album & it sounds way different than previous material, but after listening to Cope I have a new found respect for bands that change it up. Aside from a few of the heavier moments on this album, it all just sounds so vanilla & was very bored listening to most of it.
At this point I feel like I could take most of MO's catalogue, mix it together, & wouldn't be able to tell you what song is from what album. I've heard no evolution in 90% of what I've heard from these guys since METN which was when I got into these guys.
I know no one gives a shit, but I just wanted to put my thoughts out there on this album & MO in general. I'm just so bored by these guys anymore. I feel like they haven't lived up to their potential. Each album feels like a couple great songs but then the other 8-10 are just fillers

chiefwahoo reacted to niblips in PO: Bob Mould - Beauty & Ruin
I sent them a quick email yesterday evening asking if i was one of the first 400 pre-orders and received a msg back today confirming that i was. That surprises me though because i didn't find out about it until about 8 hours after it was announced.
Now to wait and see which variant arrives.....

Is it possible what you have is a CD?

chiefwahoo reacted to wheelchairjoe in One side of record won't spin/play/do anything
Just bought Neck Deep's RIJ/AHOBD on vinyl, it's the orange pressing, second hand, and I was suuuper stoked to have it. So I get round to playing it today, and the Rain In July side just won't spin, AHOBD plays fine yay great but why won't the other side spin? I've heard it may be warped or something. Is this the case? I'm pretty pissed cause the guy I bought it from was like "oh yeah it's brand new! Never played!"
The same thing happens with my Salem - I'm still in the night EP. Side A spins for a second, sounds distorted and just doesn't play. I'm guessing that's completely fucked/warped. Side B, again, is fine.
Any suggestions on what I can do to rescue the neck deep record would be appreciated.

Your record player would not be playing the A side but not the B side unless you're flipping the fucking table over instead of the record. It can't consciously differentiate between the two sides of a record.
The most likely explanation is that it doesn't start 50% of the time, and you just happen to be trying to play the B side when it happens.

Soda vs Pop is definitely a regional thing. Pop is probably what they call it in hell though.
Soft drink and brown fizzy water are both acceptable alternatives. I honestly have no idea why pop rubs me the wrong way. Hell, even calling it "soda pop" doesn't bother me.
