Oblivion story: Back when it came out I was still new-ish to collecting vinyl and I couldn't figure out what Mondo was or how to buy the record. I was a M83 fan and found a contest from Crave (a now defunct online magazine) where I won the record, a 3D puzzle of the ship from the movie, collapsible water bottles with the Oblivion logo, and a cap that had the Oblivion logo and name of the movie on the back. I still have everything except the hat which I still miss to this day and I can't find a picture of it online and I've never seen it for sale anywhere.

Apparently, we're the minority who thinks the $40 asking price is too high as the reissue is already showing as SOLD OUT...crazy

It really is crazy when you think about it that way....I thought it'd be the standard $35 especially not being 180gram...was surprised to see a repress at the $40 price point as well...although some of the 3xLP's are now $50?!  Which is crazy.  10 years ago I would've said "I'll never pay that" and now here we are...crazy indeed.

The craziest thing is how these guys used to do vinyl as a fun little niche side project when they were releasing Maniac and stuff but now they’re pretty much a record shop that sells some expensive merch like tiki mugs and silk-screened posters on the side…

If they think they’re being “smart” by shipping them in poly bags, then they also better be smart enough to start shipping the records outside of the jackets

Echoing this.  Love the band.  Love this album.  But even as someone who occasionally springs for reissues, variants, and deluxe editions that I don’t really need... I can’t justify this one.  If there was more unreleased material, I could maybe be swayed.  I will undoubtedly check out the live performance of the album, but realistically just once or twice at most.  Really don’t feel compelled to use the funds or shelf space to physically own a copy of it.  And demo versions are cool or whatever, but I’d be lying to myself if I said I’d ever reach for them over hearing the magic that they’ve fully realized in the studio version of the record.
 
The presentation sounds great, and I’d love to get my hands on that hardcover art book. I think that if you don’t own already own copy of this record for whatever reason, and you have the wherewithal, this boxset would be a nice addition.  As someone who’s becoming increasingly aware of shelf space and also content with a copy for a while now, I can’t talk myself into it.  And for once I’m a little proud of myself since I seem to lack self-control with this band especially.

The 2017 reissue of Bernard Hermann's score to 'Vertigo' is cheap now from various sellers on Amazon and elsewhere:  $6.98 plus shipping.  Colored vinyl too!

the variant sold out in one day. obviously, they underestimated demand and pressed more to accommodate more than the fans who got lucky enough to see it/the fastidious collector and flipper types. they announced they'd be upping the pressing #s the very same day, too.

if someone doesn't like it, thinks their copy is less valuable or whatever, i'm sure Anticon will gladly cancel the order.

Gonna be tough to make that stick here... 
 
A place where a number of members prefer to flip their purchases for a wad of stranger's money, over reselling at cost to dedicated fans. 

If they really wanted to make this right they'd make the center labels on this new batch say "NOT AS GOOD"
