That's awesome! Now just take bribes from the others in line for where to stash the high-demand records in various bins across the store

Haha. I don't think people realize that the public can just buy that Fugees record now given it's over 12 months old (i.e., it is no longer members only, just like all of the 2015 catalog). Don't let these referral jabronies fool you.

It's also NIN, which means you need to add 100% of the expected time onto everything. I say sometime in June/July if we are lucky.

They haven't even shipped out NTAE yet...

not lucky, it's just a really good pressing.
There is a just a vocal minority complaining.
VMP has posted that they have had less than a 2% return/complaint rate which from what they say is better than any of their previous releases.
This record has just drawn out a lot of crosley fans that like to complain.

funny how this is like the third time you've tried to trash this pressing without actually owning it. stop spreading the garbage rumors of people on the internet because you didn't get a copy. it's getting old....

I find the drink cocktails generally TOO unique for actually making out of a standard bar most people have in their homes. Don't get much value out of that but saving them for a rainy day hopefully. *shrug*

I have also found my inner / outer sleeve fit becoming very snug in the most recent AOTM. Small nitpick, but considering the card stock on the outers and printed inners, I believe it's a symptom of a quality package that has +25k units floating around.

I say this as a biased VMP subscriber, but I actually find their exclusives to me quite the opposite of Newbury.  A lot of them are great new releases and it seems to me like they put a lot of time into selecting them.  And their pricing is usually in line with, maybe a couple bucks more, than you can find the standard releases for.  Newbury seems to re-press albums that are readily available for cheap and really jacks up the price.

My biggest issue with the boxset is the usability of it. No doubt most Gorillaz fans will also purchase the standard or deluxe to have a non-annoying listening experience. The box ends up feeling like more of a novelty and collector's item than an actual DELUXE version. Hope most of the signed ones went to real Gorillaz fans so they can enjoy it.

For a board that complains about vinyl prices all the time, I find it hysterical that's so many of you want to drop $400 on an impractical box set for songs that you have never heard before.
And  people thought record store day was a gimmick cash grab.

OUT with the overnight lines just to get shuffled through a line to miss out on what you want and not actually stick around your record store; IN with the casual drop-in to see what is up and maybe pick up something else that has a RSD markdown! The lack of flipper bait on this list is refreshing, even if it means nothing that exciting to get riled up for.

Not sure if this is sarcasm (I assume it is, but will respond in kind ) but I have never made them myself. They often require me going to buy a liquor, bitters, syrup, etc. that I would never use again. So I pass and really don't get any value from them.

Garage sale items get gobbled up quickly, so really no need to utilize the larger user base to get rid of items; however it may be advantageous to show people another advantage of the club. That being said, the sale only happens a couple times a year so who knows...

And yes, their taste tends to skew older. I love that YL album and would be all over it as well. Heck I purchased Combat!, Nearly Oratorio, Reuben and Ritual Howls all for full price when they were released.... and they all sit there for dirt cheap now.

For me, Gorillaz is nostalgic and reminds me of 2005 and what I was into at the time. I listened to DD the other day, and it still grooved; but I'm not sure I would feel the same way if it was released today.

As for VMP, it makes sense that this sold out with their 20k+(or more?) already existing members, and new sign-ups. They have stated that they want to reduce the runs of the ROTM and try to put value on actually being a member versus trying to hunt an album down in the aftermarket for 1/2 price. It is yet to be seen if this works... but I'm sure you will find a handful of DD in the aftermarket from members not interested in it. You just may have to pay a little premium (until there is inevitably a black press...)

Also, love the salt around people thinking VMP is curating peoples listening habits. I subscribe because I have the disposable income to get a random record each month that someone thinks I should listen to. This is no different than walking into a record store and asking the clerk what they recommend this month. For me, VMP is 50/50 and while a lot of packages are spot on, the music doesn't hit for me (Lapsley, Nada Surf, Wilco). But I'm ok with this as the rest of my dough goes to albums I know I want.
