Two of my favorite albums ever. I already own them, and so should everyone. 

Interesting. I actually really like this album and am glad to find that Pink and Blue is probably my least favorite track so I was a little worried I’d be disappointed. Always interesting when an artist deviates from a formula and disappoints fans, when it makes total sense from the artist’s perspective to evolve, branch out, and try new things. I mean, How great would another variation of his first three albums really be? For me, His sound was already starting to get a bit redundant with Epoch. Weather is different, so I can see why fans of his prior work would be disappointed, but I enjoy it for what it is, although I do think it could be a bit stronger and might work better as a collab EP rather than a straight up Tycho album.  This interview has some nice insight.

Someone from the cave in Facebook group live-streamed it and I heard it. It’s definitely more in with the albums you mentioned you liked and not heavy at all. 

The first side is very spacey, very Jupiter/Tides Of Tomorrow style. The second half is a little heavier, but definitely not on the same level as Planets of Old or White Silence. If you just need a couple more songs akin to All Illusion to make the purchase worth it, I'm pretty confident in saying you'd be satisfied with your purchase!

Yeah. When I saw this, I was like "whaaaat?" Then they fell off later, and I was all "hooooooow?"

Wow man. Fuck. Darren was the best part of the band for me, especially the live show. I wonder if Mutemath will still be a thing after this album/tour.

I got a shipping notice a few days ago, but when I check the tracking number, it says the shipment has been created but USPS hasn't received the item yet. Anyone else having that?

I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade here, but I'm in bewilderment seeing how people are going shitballs over this preorder. And I'm actually curious about people's affection with 2017's edition ATD-I, considering the shitfest of a reunion tour, Cedric's bedazzling personal development as a somewhat public figure and the gaping hole in creativity and actual correlation to their heyday that is Jim Ward being completely absent. Is it old affection to the name? Or did you guys enjoy all the Volta and whatnot records of recent years? Did you see them play and they were the legitimately best thing ever? Do you hate Jim Ward?!
 
It kinda still hurts saying this, considering how much I adore all their original output, but I'm not looking forward to this, because there's nothing about it to get me excited. It's not that I'm sure the record is gonna blow. Antemasque didn't, kinda. But not a single member of ATD-I (minus Ward, but..) put out anything exciting in 14 years, for me, personally. Also skipping through some videos of their recent touring really showed just how much youthful energy they put into their recordings, and how unable they are today to reproduce any of that.

I already have pocketknife, but this is a fun find!

Surprised it actually didn't sell out before lunch time. Unlike other groups of fans I've interacted with or observed (too creepy?), the hardcore MM fans are pretty hardcore...and that's coming from a huge fan. I didn't buy bc that's definitely too expensive for me..it's also coming out in the last month of the year when my record budget is already blown.
Wish I could buy it and support these dudes and there families. Having met them, I'm always happy to buy their tunes, go to a show or two and chat with them. That's why, although pricey, I can't imagine them making a cash grab. I think some fans seeing it as a really personal album or it's the only album they really like. Bands sell VIP tickets to shows, or have special VIP merch...in this case, it just happened to be their most popular album AND it's treated as a "VIP item".
I'm kinda salty about the price but when I think about how it "could" have happened, maybe it's a classic "Cartel Chroma Situation" but in reverse? Maybe they could have added some random recordings to essentially add value without having to create some physical? Maybe WB was so disinterested in Mutemath's attempt to press the record that did in fact milk it and charge more for what they saw was WB losing money? There could have been a "point of no return" where MM (who I believe is independent) spent so much of their own money trying to make everything work, they had to release it this way?
Wish we could have some more info about the whole ordeal but these are my hot takes.
Bummed that it could really be the final press though but as I finish a post that's too long, I just need to move on and put on a record and smile.

I see your angle, but that's a false dichotomy. I'd feel way better knowing the band is getting a cut and it's not all going to WB. I hate to see inflating vinyl costs, but products are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them. $75 for this is looney. But I don't think those who choose to pass on it are morally superior to those who decide its worth it. Interesting thing to debate, though!

I don't understand this price at all. I'm a die hard MM fan who purchased this regardless of the price but I feel cheated because of the price. 
 
Dont get get me wrong, I just paid $120 on eBay for a copy of armistice but when it's being sold for $75 direct from the band it's over the top. It feels like a cash grab... it's more about the principle than the price.

I am a University student writing my Dissertation paper on  “I am the resurrection”: The Rebirth of Vinyl Records in Contemporary Popular Music Culture. I am looking for some answers to some questions from all on the forum who are interested in giving me some feedback and opinions. I don't need huge amounts of detail but a nice short discussion will be very much appreciated. I too am a huge vinyl enthusiast so I'm hoping we can create something special with this paper.
 
1. What do you think has caused/contributed to the vinyl resurgence and why?
2. What do vinyl records mean to you?
3. Do you prefer the visual or aural aspects of vinyl records?
4. What are the benefits of vinyl records over other formats of music?
