mxv got a reaction from dutchflowers in PO: David Bowie - Blackstar - Jan. 8, 2016
My clear one came on Saturday. Last night I went to bed early and the last thing I did was play the new album. I woke up this morning and saw the news that he died. That was a little eerie and was the worst way to start the work week.

I've always liked Bowie since I was a little kid. When I was in grade school in the 70's (yes, I'm a dinosaur) I used to play my dad's "Changesonebowie" album all the time.

You know what I look for in a box set? Good music. Don't care whether or not it's limited.

Shrink wrap was used before the 80's. I got plenty of records in the 70's that were shrink wrapped.

I'm not sure how many on this board will even know this stuff but I know a few of you will. I used to trade records with Pushead a long time ago and he was extremely generous in our various trades. He also was quick to part with certain rarities to me because he knew I was going to keep them and not just throw them up on eBay. Here's a couple gems:

Septic Death - Nightmare Takes a Nap box set of test pressings. This alone is super rare as only 30 were made but this one isn't like the others, note the number - number 00/30MV. This set was custom made for me and even has my initials as part of the number. It also has extras that the other versions don't have. It is a true one of a kind. I damn near shit myself when he sent me this in the mail as I had no idea it was coming.

And related to the above is this pair:

These are called Butcher Boxes. There was 5 made of each box. One contains various test pressings for Bacteria Sour singles (I forget which ones off the top of my head) and the other one has test pressings for all the Bacteria Sour compilations (including a rejected version of #3). I have matching boxes, both #3/5. He intentionally sent me matching ones.

These are some of my most prized items in my collection.

Hello all.  I'm new here but saw some deals on these Depeche Mode albums today ($3.99 with $2.99 shipping).  I'm not familiar with the seller but some of you may and it seems like a good deal if it's a legit site.

All of the variations of the first Suicidal Tendencies LP as of today. I'm sure they'll be sending me a couple new ones over the course of this year.

This will be two-cents as an old and jaded HxC kid.

Violence at HxC shows...or even any aggressive music genre...goes in cycles I've noticed in my 20+ years of being in the "scene". It seems that some generations "discover" the thugcore mentality that was prevalent in late 90's NYHC for example, and want to replicate it in not only the bands' music but also in the pit. It's one thing to let out the aggression & frustration in the pit via moshing and whatnot & still maintaining the camarederie of the scene...but if you're one of the many assholes who only go to shows and into the pit to purposely & malevolently hurt others with your ninja spinkicks and throwing punches, you can go get fucked.

A good starting point is all the bands that came years before them because Judge is a fucking terrible band. All that youth crew shit ruined punk rock for me because it was so terrible and attracted the worst goons and meatheads.

That is funny because MXV is one of the most knowledgeable people on the board and has been around long enough to see this shit first hand.
And it is very possible for a band/bands to ruin an entire genre of music.
Music for the most part is reactionary. One band has the power to shift the mentality of a scene especially one as small and tight as hardcore. A band can come out and do something that hasn't been done before. Bands that play alongside them take note of this new variation and implement it into their music. Then those bands play some shows and spread this sound even further. Pretty soon there are a ton of bands copying that one band.
This doesn't have to be a bad thing, but when the style that is being spread promotes violence and ignorance you now have bands attempting to be more aggressive and fans that are only out to hurt others. That can lead to people that don't want to partake leaving the scene that thy were a part of for many years.
