jonnywreck reacted to dantheriver in FURNACE FEST 2022 - Final Lineup Announced...and it's LIKE WOAH!!!
If Elliott doesn’t at minimum play a hometown show in addition to this I’m going to be so bummed. I *might* go this year but really don’t fuck with fests and would much rather see them play a full set at a regular length show. They have a booking link on their newly created IG, so fingers crossed.

Welp, here come the toxic tribe of vaxxers with their confused little faces.
"Government told me to hate you. Government never lies. Government is my friend. Government keeps me safe."
Nevermind that the vaccines don't actually work and that we were lied to about comorbidities. Let's continue to hate our neighbors because our governments took away our freedoms and said guys like Dicky Barret are the reason why we can't have them back. ..
Fuck that guy and his body his choice. I wanna be part of the tribe!

jonnywreck reacted to sabukweli in (PO SOON?) : Turnstile - Glow On
Well here I am living this discussion out. My 4 year old and I made the Seth Meyers appearance our first video of the morning and followed it up with the H5Six record release show. Since I only occasionally dip a toe in the hardcore pool I had never given them a chance before hearing “Mystery”. I downloaded the album and didn’t like much else, finding it akin to when Minus The Bear got a new electronic toy and shoehorned awkwardly into everything. Subsequently I was riding with him in the truck and played “Mystery” and he was JAMMIN in the car seat. I was making a turn as the song ended and “Blackout” started. I went to change it to something else (he also really loves Fiddlehead) and he got upset and said, “Hey! I liked that!” So we listened to the rest and he loved almost all of it. Now since that day we listen to most of the album every day at some point. He’s in love. “We need to get this record, da-da!” he says. And so I wait for this black repress to go back up. Preorder from Flight 13 is the backup plan.

I hate what they did with the artwork, but that remaster does sound excellent.

The band is releasing a new Christmas song next week called Threadbare. There will be a 7" flexi.

Are you trying to tell me that my equipment doesn’t let me feel the warmth of vinyl? I’ll see you in the parking lot

No but there’s one perfect record out of every 1000000 to those guys

jonnywreck reacted to whoa in Radiohead - Kid A / Amnesiac 21st Anniversary Reissue (KID A Mnesia)
Got mine in today and did a quick comparison of the Kid A 10" vs this (red). Basically sound the same, but I'd say this newer press sounds better than my 10" copy, the bass is deeper without affecting the mids and highs. Kid A is squeezed hard onto each side in comparison to the other two LPs in the set. I feel the only track that suffers is Motion Picture Soundtrack; It's not a dealbreaker that is has the slightest, I mean ever so slightest, sibalent artefacts on the singing, but I only noticed because after my first playback I hopped through the 10" and that's really not fair (no one's going to do that every playback, are they?)! It could be the slight warp my copy has, or it could be how it sounds, but I'm hardly going to be playing both side by side to nitpick, I imagine the other two LPs will sound just as great. Solid mastering to get this to fit, so well done to them.

There could be a whole thread devoted to this guy’s awful behavior. Pretty much all of those Epitaph/Rise metalcore ass bags were/are really scummy and had no business being around underage girls ever. Anyone remember Emmure?

They should have framed it as a $40 donation to support Rough Trade and the arts and you get a free record as a thank you.
(All kidding aside, this is how I sometimes think about it when I buy expensive merchandise at shows. Supporting a band you like while they're on tour and you get a little physical gift as a thanks.)

Yeah, but you also get to play with a paper wheel to access a QR code which lets you commiserate with other strangers who’ve been scammed, over FaceTime. It’s tough to assign a monetary value to that.

jonnywreck got a reaction from Mars in PO NOW: Deafheaven - Infinite Granite (08/20)
Few things -
“Shellstar” variant has little to no surface noise and sounds good to the end of the album.
Additionally, “Mombasa” is one of their best songs and I love this album and how the end of that song makes me wanna just dive back into their old catalog. Used to be I’d need a break after listening to a full album of theirs, but this is a p good segue into their back catalog.
Listening to that last song also makes me think we wouldn’t be wrong to expect more metal-tinged material in the future.
