I remember being like 11 and walking into the Wherehouse having no idea Green Day had a new album and seeing a giant cardboard display for Insomniac. I thought it was an old album I hadn’t heard like Kerplunk, which I had bought a week earlier at K-Mart, so I grabbed a tape copy and listened to it for a few days before I finally saw Geek Stink Breath on MTV and realized it was new. It’s been my favorite of theirs, by far, since the moment I first heard it. Sad that I’ll never have that experience again of walking into a shop and seeing a brand new record/tape of my favorite band that I had no idea was released.

Got it. I do love the rush of a timed vinyl drop .

I saw J Mascis playing post-rock before the MBV show in Philly a few years ago.

Ive been such a big fan of Dinosaur Jr’s  “where you been?” for 25 yrs and  i still get amped up hearing the opening riff to “Out There”.   
 
Great little live set.   I turned it up until my ears hurt so it could feel like im standing in the very back of a Dino Jr show.

Idk the first thing about running or working in a record store but i do know that my local shop has their suppliers, and they also constantly hunt for used lots of alternative/punk/rock collections.  It could be fun, it will be hard work, but please dont dump your retirement fund into it. 

you’ve got to stock a lot of artists from the get go, and many of whom that you cant stand to listen to.   Other than that be friendly and fair on prices and you might have a chance at a store that stays standing.   
 

Never liked anything he released after Zwan but from 90-03 he had a great run.

It's going to be like all the other later era SP. Hopeful and exciting at first. Saying "I actually like these songs" and then 4 months later, they're forgotten and everyone rediscovers Machina again.

Yes. But for the past 10 years. Something will happen at some point, but don't hold your breath. Billy has lots of plans, but rarely sees things through.
 

I think this would be the 2nd time it has hit 2k. And from what I've seen the next highest 3 have only sold in the 1k-$1100 range. But this one sold for more than double what any other on discogs has sold for.
 
I don't necessarily doubt it as I see people with disposable income do crazy things all the time. But the prices on some of these sales are really odd. Of the 50+ sold on ebay i think all but 2 have been under 1k. One actual auction (not bin) in Jan somehow hits 2k even though there are no shortage of them selling for under 1k at the time (I'd love to see how many people actually bid over 1k on it) .  Around the same time another auction sells for $610. A week after that an auction goes for $680.  It all seems strange to me but it really is probably just some insane person buying it for their kid's birthday or something when its the only one that was available.

Both my Morning View and Make Yourself LPs sound absolutely crystal clear and fantastic. I had a previous Make Yourself 2013 repress and they're both the same in terms of quality I'd say, the colour LP doesn't affect the playback quality and was a welcome replacement to my tired out 2013 pressing. I only had Morning View on CD previously and would happily say it sounds much better than my CD copy in that it sounds huge and far more open. Like, MV was already a fantastic recording anyway, but this LP does it so much justice.

I did as well. Got it a couple of days ago.

I’ve never seen someone so butthurt over pellets.  You can actually see this man’s last ounce of hope and ambition leave his body over this.  Was the mockup marbled or opaque or something?  This release wasn’t for me but I think the end result looks pretty damn cool.
