Ah, CDs. I was so naive to think I would love my 2,000 CD collection forever. So young, so dumb. I have 30 or so hanging around in a box somewhere, and I just found an As Cities Burn CD demo hiding in a box the other day.

I don't see what the big deal about enjoying this, or any other 90s release. It's a record filled with catchy, well-written pop songs that happened to be the soundtracks to a lot of people's formative years. My dad still listened to his Beatles records, decades after there release. I'm not saying the Goo Goo Dolls are the Beatles, by any means; just wondering if a decade from now you'll only be listening to new, relevant and cool albums instead of ones you thoroughly enjoyed at one time.
Please, by no means take this as an aggressive post toward you, because I promise you it wasn't meant to be said in a dickhead way, but it makes no sense why it's wrong to enjoy a pop record from the 90s, merely because someone really does consider it a great record.

ronniegwilliams got a reaction from Duff in Interview/Job opinion- I need your thoughts
Alright, so a few weeks ago, I sent my resume to a retail company that I was interested in working with.  A few days later I had a phone interview with the District Manager, who already seemed to dig me, so he invited me to an in person interview the very next day.  So, next day we meet and b.s. a bit, just about managing styles and past experience.  He tells me there that he would hire me immediately if there was a location closer to me (I use public transit since I sold my car before I moved to DC), but he says he may be able to shift managers to get me a spot because I would be a good fit.  I get a call that night, saying he can move a manager and has a spot for me, but I need to speak to his boss and he would call me in a few days when he's back from meetings.  He calls me days later, saying it was meant to be to work for said company, and basically coached me on what to talk about when I speak to his boss and he would call me on Monday (about 3 days later) to set up a time.  I don't get a call Monday, but I get an email Tuesday that says that his boss is busy, but things are still a go, so I should sit tight.  So I get the impression that he's still very interested.  That was last Tuesday.  Tired of waiting, I email Sunday morning, asking if he had any news (that and I really need a job), to which he hasn't replied.  Again, tired of waiting, I call today to no answer and I leave a voicemail.

Sorry that was so long, but I need some opinions on this.  Some simple facts: dude seemed super interested in getting me on board, seemed willing to move employees to different locations to find a spot for me, called me and coached me on what to say to his boss to get me on board, guy may be in his early 40s which would entail that he is a professional.

With that simple facts stated, I'm wanting to know whether or not you think this guy is now blowing me off, or maybe he's just too busy or maybe something came up in his personal life that is keeping him from contacting me.  I told my gal that I think he's blowing me off (I'm kind of a pessimist when it comes to employment), as I think he would have at least sent an email or text or quick phone call to keep me in the loop.  The gal thinks that because he is a professional, he would at least let me know that he is no longer interested in me or the position is no longer open.

Therefore, please let me know what you think, my internet friends.

So I'm sure there was a thread along these lines sometime ago, but there isn't one now, so it's time to fix that.  So I watch a lot of movies, probably one or two a day, and I'm always curious as to what everybody else has been digging on, whether it be new flicks or ones being revisited.  Let's hear what people are digging on.

Just rewatched Punch Drunk Love and forgot how awesome it was.  I definitely wish Sandler would take on more serious roles these days.

ronniegwilliams got a reaction from enyfour5 in Cassettes - What is the point?
Exactly!  Buy his tapes.  I have always enjoyed cassettes, as they were the first medium of physical music that I could go about on my own, making my own purchases to start my first collection.  I regret parting ways with all my old 90s alt-rock and radio punk tapes when I thought that CDs would be the "do all-say all" in music.  I collect tapes today because, like Rambo said, tapes are the affordable option (for both the label and the consumer) when it comes to physical media; exactly how vinyl was years ago.

Speaking of cassettes, I do believe I have a cassette coming out on Rambo's label here very soon.  What a coincidence!

Most people here know that I tend not to make negative posts, which could potentially hurt somebody's feelings, but not here I can't.  Most people on here work full-time, attend school, and struggle to get by.  Sure, it sucks; but that's just part of life.  I did it for years.  I had shit stolen, it sucked a lot; but I never once asked for handouts because something was taken from me.  That guitar meant that much to you- get a second job, apply for a credit card, sell some shit (records, plasma, whatever).  What about car insurance?  That should cover it.  Were your doors locked?  If not, sorry someone wasn't being responsible.

I truly am sorry about you losing your guitar because I know how devastating that would be to me; but I would never leave a guitar (especially one with so much sentimental value) in my car- locked or unlocked, even if it was for a five minute trip to the grocery store.

My favorite, by far, is PS3 Media Server.  It connects with my BluRay player over my WiFi network, so I can stream anything (movies, music, etc) wirelessly to my TV.  This pairs well with NoSleep, which allows me to shut my MacBook without the computer falling asleep.
