"Four years after «How Hate Is Hard To Define» and a pair of splits, here's the long-awaited second full-length from Toulouse, France's PLEBEIAN GRANDSTAND. «Lowgazers» marks another impressive step in the band's quest of total aural devastation : armed with new drummer Ivo (Stuntman, PAL…), the four-piece picks the most dissonant and experimental aspects of black metal, hardcore and sludge to create an unreal vortex of desolation. From the first notes of "Thrvst", the band reaches new heights of intensity, switching from inhuman blast beats to slow-motion torture, while unorthodox guitar work and painfully shrieked vocals tear the listener from all quarters. The LP (available on limited color vinyl) along with several Iron Boots T-shirt reprints, is now available for Preorder through the labels' respective webstores, and will begin shipping in early October! Compiling all of the band's output during their brief existance, this collection contains all of the material from their 2004 Demo, Weight of the World 7", Easy Green 7", and tracks from the Generations: A Hardcore Compilation on Revelation Records. All of the audio has been remastered by the wonderful Daniel Husayn at North London Bomb Factory, and features killer packaging which includes brand new cover art done by the one and only Spoiler, a printed inner sleeve featuring some additional reprinted original Iron Boots artwork, and a huge 24x24" double sided Poster lyric sheet! We also pressed up two limited vinyl colors - Blue Vinyl (out of 170) and Orange Vinyl (out of 225). The vinyl comes with a Download featuring a digitally remastered version of the collection as well. In addition to the vinyl reissue, we also reprinted two Iron Boots shirt designs, one featuring an early shirt design done by Spoiler (also used on later pressings of their Demo 7"), and a killer pocket print double-sided t-shirt as well. For the uninitiated, IRON BOOTS hailed from in Virginia Beach, VA and were most active from 2004-2006 before playing their final show in Richmond in 2008. With their hi-impact, fuck-your-attitude delivery and NYHC influenced songwriting (open your eyes, they sounded exactly like WARZONE, and wore that label proudly), the Boots were one of few contemporary hardcore bands that were able to take influence from classic hardcore punk and successfully make it their own. Along with bands like Down to Nothing, Bracewar, Victim and Wasted Time, Iron Boots were the crew that was key in solidifying Richmond / Virginia Beach as a relevant and vital Hardcore scene during the mid-00's. In their short career, Iron Boots managed to churn out an impressive catalog - an eight song demo, two 7" EPs, and two tracks for a Revelation Records compilation - all of which are featured on this release. Always remembering to keep the faith, Iron Boots took pride in maintaining a classic "If it ain't broke don't fix it" approach to hardcore in both songwriting and aesthetic. The end result being, as proven on this reissue, a timeless recorded and visual output that still maintains a fresh and vital feel more than a decade later. Shipping early to mid-September The Stops - Nameless Faces LP Self-described as “5 girls playing punk, The Stops quickly became one of Dirt Cult’s favorite local Portland bands (if not one of our favorite current bands period) when we moved out here last year. Their debut LP, Nameless Faces, definitely adds to Portland’s reputation for dark melodic punk (see also: Observers, Red Dons). The Stops are talented individuals who’ve cultivated a unique sound – combining seemingly disparate influences of the Wipers, Adolescents, and early Go-Go’s. They kind of come off like an American counterpart to Terrible Feelings – except they’re more straight-forward punk rock and no quite as bleak. Still, if you enjoy that blend of melodic hooks and darker lyrics, The Stops are a band you won’t want to miss. Lead guitarists, Ruby is an absolute force. Out of the many guitarists of the moment playing in that classic Rikk Agnew style, she’s one of the best we’re heard. This record is loaded with top-notch guitar hooks, and they fit in perfectly with the band’s style. LISTEN BUY
