PO: Jack White - Lazaretto -- "Ultra LP"

Recommended Posts

I figured that there is no way it's going to be an inverted bolt. The description says 180g vinyl. The inverted bolts are FAR from 180g. Probably 140g at absolute best.

I don't need another black blunderbuss. I'll just grab lazaretto for $20 later on and save the other $20ish.

If it ends up being an inverted bolt I'll be totally shocked

I messaged them about it - response:

"We have received information that the Jack White Blunderbuss LP was available in blue. Unfortunately, the bundle is not available for purchase at this time. However, the label may consider offering the bundle in the future so you may check the link once in a while:

Each time I see a comment posted about "noisey" records on various threads, it makes me wonder if people are truly taking the time to clean their records *before* (MOV records come to mind that usually have a lot of lint/debris on them) and after each play, and also cleaning their stylus.  I am sure there are people who do this routinely and others that likely forget--which could cause a lot of these issues (especially when so many people comment "no noise for me" and then the other half say they do...so I find it hard to believe it is a manufacturing defect 99% of the time).  From the New to Vinyl FAQ stickied at the top of this forum (we may need to break it out into its own thread)

1. How do I clean my records?

Depending on your budget there are several options to keep your records clean. Listed below are some common options from most affordable to most efficient:
1.
A. Brush and cleaner fluid ($15)
B. Anti-static brush ($25-$30)

2. SpinClean manual cleaner ($75-150)

3. Record cleaning machine ($560 and up to thousands)

Some people have reportedly been able to clean their records with wood glue:

You'll also want a stylus cleaner. I recommend the ONZOW Zero Dust.

Some people get the job done with a Magic Eraser:

Edit:

Thanks to these 2 for the downvotes for a friendly reminder post!   You stay classy San Diego.

i think youspinmeround knows  how to clean records.

that being said. the fact that united is churning out over 40,000 of these, i wouldn't be at all surprised if they're pushing the plates past their intended limits and people getting records from the end of a particular run are noisier than others.

I clean my records with a fluid solution and a brush and my stylus with a magic eraser for every flip of every record including this one, and there is still surface noise on this and some other records. Some sound silent, some are just like that.

that's an awful idea. unless you're vacuuming your records using a VPI machine or something similar, every time you clean your records you're pushing debris further into the grooves. the only time you should use a fluid solution and brush is if the record is filthy and you have no other option. you're definitely going to make your records noisier.

Just saying, they pressed 100k copies of the new black keys album and people aren't complaining about sound issues ;)

I wasn't trying to call anyone out specifically, but rather with vinyl manufacturing increasing to the record levels, sure there will be some issues but i've just noticed in a lot of threads this has been brought up more frequently lately.   In addition, with so many people jumping on the vinyl bandwagon, I am curious how many people will actually clean a new record before playing it, and thinking it has issues, when it really just needs to be cleaned.  Also, equipment plays into this as well, but that's a whole other issue.

My intent was more of a friendly reminder than anything else.

My records sound great, and anti-static brushes have all been useless and counter-productive, leaving tiny fibers in the grooves. But alas, this is a Jack White thread, not the cleaning your records thread.

I heard they are blowing through these records! I know here in Detroit a store can't keep copies in for more than a day or two after they come in! 1 store has gone through 150 copies and has 200 more on the way...along with other stores going through there first shipments of around 20-75 or so! It must be the Ultra LP hype! He did present it on Jimmy Fallon so that probably helped....But i can't image this doing this well so fast if it were a standard LP as the music is a little less quality then his last effort!

Jack your a genius!
