Shoegaze/Dream Pop Thread

Recommended Posts

I love Ringo Deathstarr. Their new album God's Dream is some of the best stuff I've ever heard, ever.

Being lale to the party turns out  a good thing since God's Dream isn't Colour Trip all over again (and no deflated expectations since they moved in a new direction), more Adrian Belew like guitar effects and leads/ experimental from Elliot on his guitar work.  The 3 live tracks on Youtube: Flower Power, S/T and Nowhere have been on repeat the past month. Love the bass line on Nowhere - it's simple but so contagious, you can't help but groove to that.  Says their new material coming out is going to push their envelope a little more. I'm down for that! They seem to have the mojo going and are full-time /all in, serious - so they have to keep cranking out the music.

I have an extra copy of Imandra Lake - Avane if anyone is interested (only 300 printed). I ordered this record from Seksound in Estonia and when it didn't arrive after 4 months they sent me another copy... both showed up within the same week.  So, now I'm going to sell it for them and send them the money. Since they're a small label making good music I'm not going to screw them.  If this was from Universal Music Group I'd tell them to suck it.   I know this isn't the FOR SALE thread... but it seemed appropriate. 25$ shipped PP gifted, just send me a DM.

"Just Us" mentioned a band for me to check out (via his youtube channel housing that Stella Luna favorite) a few pages back called No Joy.

Originally a femme duo, now rounded to a four piece, the Canadians make this fuzzed out, shoegazey, noise-pop, psychedelic goodness.

They have a new LP "More Faithful" coming out in June, and their label, Mexican Summer, has a bundle with the new release PLUS their other 2 LP's - "Ghost Blonde" and "Wait To Pleasure" for $41 + $5.93 shipped to USA.  The pressing on the previous two is /2000 and still can be easily found on discogs for $13-15 plus shipping individually. The label has the new preorder at $17.98 and the others $14,98 individually.

Bandcamp here:  https://nojoy.bandcamp.com/album/wait-to-pleasure  scroll back for more of their  music

Bundle here: http://www.mexicansummer.com/shop/no-joy-3-lp-bundle/

edit: If you've been looking for or wanting The Black Ryder's: "Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride," it appears Mexican Summer still has some of these for $14.98.   Still warming up to their latest.

Late to the party on 93MillionMilesFromTheSun ....  Listened to all their individual releases and man, great stuff :)

The mp3 bundle from bandcamp: https://93mmfts.bandcamp.com/album/white-noise-revisited-2007-2013  I really dig their postrock-gaze tracks.

Their lone vinyl release, "Towards the Light" is still available at their UK label ($32.50ppd to the US :( and shipping wasn't too bad considering UK, about $10).

Deep Space distro'ed it upon release in 2012 per his thread here:

http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/81284-new-shoegazepsych-distro-lps-in-the-deep-space-shop-nov-sale/?hl=93millionmilesfromthesun

I'm going to shoot Jeff a message to see if he would be willing to distro this again, and if so, how many commitments it would take to make it worth the hassle- since the shipping calculator doesn't discount for more records ordered.

Anyone interested, please post, thanks :)

^Nice Friday PM jamz right there^

Bought the splatter too even though I have the Black  (#thehobby) - hoping it gets here soon.

The email for the Splatter d/l was the same as the Black, but on bandcamp there is an expanded version of Melancholy with more tracks that is supposed to come with the Splatter edition. Hope that d/l code is in the jacket.

Indeed! I hadn't noticed the DL code, but yes - it does say Extended Edition on it.

I just got in that God's Dream on green/pink swirl. Second album I own by Ringo. I NEED MORE.

I do like that green/pink. . . got what I could though.

Has anyone here watched the Beautiful Noise doc? I had heard about when it was a pledge campaign and then kinda forgot about it. It's out now to buy but before I do, wanted to see if it's worth it.

No option for download only. Lame.

And then this showed up today....

I have no idea what the deal is with the hand-drawn extra jacket. But it's an awesome surprise that made me smile.

wow, that is your random colour splatter? Obvious from the "random" but I am surprised how complete different it is than mine. I also meant to mention the extra jacket - again yours is different. I will post a pic when I'm not on mobile.

The soundtrack comes with medicine's latest if you order the limited edition from captured tracks (Brad Laner did the ost). The downside is you have to order from captured tracks. That's always a problem for me- I've had issues with every order I've placed-

I'm gonna pull one of those, "I haven't seen it but my buddy has and here's what he said."

He said the focus wasn't too good but there were "some" cool parts. They didn't dive into the technical aspects, no pedal talk no real umph, even when compared to what the Beautiful Losers was for the art crew.
