Thrice opened for Deftones? Holy shit. Unless you are referring The Taste of Chaos tour they were both on.

I was introduced to Dredg when they opened for Taproot. One of my favorite shows ever. Taproot was so good before Welcome was released.

This is just the incidents of good openers I had not heard of that I'm glad I now know.

Also have been to shows where the openers sucked ass and I did not know them (Train when they were unknowns opening for Ben Folds Five).

I have spent 90% of the money I earned up until I was a responsible adult on music so I've been to a lot of shows.

I still get to a lot of shows, but I have to be more choosey now.

Was talking about So Many Dynamos the other night. My buddy's record store here in town had a copy of one of their LPs and he had somehow never heard of em. Told him he should spin some of his used inventory every now and again

I forget about them a lot. Saw them open for Ra Ra Riot.

So Many Dynamos - Loud Wars is flawless and amazing.

I saw Bluetip open for someone once but I don't remember who...

Saw Taproot open for System of a Down in 98 in the second floor of what was essentially a house in Grand Rapids, MI.  A defunct club called the Subculture.  You had to file down a staircase into a gay club in the basement to exit... it was weird and I thought that the floor would give way during the show... madness.
Weirdest lineup order ever was Puya>Mr. Bungle>Incubus>System of a Down in 2000.
After Mr. Bungle finished Mike Patton should have said "Thanks, we're Mr. Bungle... up next are a couple bands who would not exist if it weren't for us."

I have a couple of them.

I saw The Bronx for the first time at CBGB's when they released theif first record as part of a Tarantula Records Showcase. The Explosion headlined that one. Also had my biggest regret as the merch guy was trying to sell me the album on vinyl and I passed it up because I wasn't doing the whole vinyl thing at that point.

I saw These Arms Are Snakes play one of their first shows in Providence when they opened for The Blood Brothers. They had also just released their first EP.
