runforcover
Incredibly serious. I would uh...expand your horizons, or at least not claim that no one cares about incredibly influential and sought after art. WAXXX

To be fair it was a rather esoteric list, but I think no one giving a shit would not exactly be accurate either slipcraig and ChasHawk
slipcraig
Great list. Didn't know about some of these. Of course it's unpopular here - no wusspunk records included. Guess I shouldn't be surprised, but I am a bit surprised at how hostile some people are about an end-of-year list that is someone's opinion. Jayzis. Sorry if it didn't speak to everyone.

Sorry if it didn't speak to everyone.I'm definitely glad you shared. There's a ton of stuff on there i'd never even heard of, but seems neat. I'll be checking out a good number of these albums to see if they're anything I'll enjoy.I just thought I'd throw out the reissues that I was excited about from this year too. slipcraig
throughbeingcruel
Modern Life Is War - Witness is one of my top just off the top of my head. This and Saves The Day- Through Being Cool. Both very influential to me. Just not obscure enough I suppose.

I like what I like, and I'm not the only one here who's never heard of any of those reissues. It just sounds silly to say no one cares about some incredibly highly regarded funk, reggae/dancehall, world, etc music that hasn't been on vinyl for a long time, or ever. AllFuzzedOut
Heard of like 6 things on this list. The critical mass comp was not my thing. The trevor jackson comp was bloated meh. The Shinichi Atobe 12" is a great chain reaction record, so that was cool. The Cease and Desist DIY comp was really good. And someone gave me their download of number 22 and I couldn't get into it. Never heard of most other things. Oh and number 30 is a collection of 12"es that came out last year, and is basically a new record. Not sure it should even be on the list. There's like one good track on it anyways (Andres).

apirk
Not enough albums people were into when they were 14 Honestly haven't heard of many but I'd recommend the Alan Watts or Sun City Girls. The Burroughs album sounds interesting. There are links by each release to listen so maybe people could discover something new

natenomm
That "Trevor Jackson Presents" album is fucking insane. I'm glad I gave it a listen after I saw this list, and I'll definitely pick it up on the next Amoeba sale.
