andrewlucas
45 is perfect. The belt is right in the middle of the platter and doesn't move down at all when I turn it off. The problem seems to just be with 33 1/

aju2streets
Save your christmas money, get a Pro-Ject. Is the cheapest pro - ject the essential for $300 (besides the elemental)
dethrock
Is the cheapest pro - ject the essential for $300 (besides the elemental) I believe it is. Look at this link http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/90723-deal-found-pro-ject-debut-carbon-2m-r-for-340-shipped/ Much better table than the Essential and not much more money. yocaseycasey
I have a standard (no acrylic) and had problems at first with the belt. But I realized my motor was just at an angle.

I heard a lot of people have been having a problem with the motor being on an angle. Was it easy to fix?
yocaseycasey
I heard a lot of people have been having a problem with the motor being on an angle. Was it easy to fix? Sorry for not responding. Just saw this. I just pulled up on the motor, and it stayed. It's a really easy fix. I am guessing the motor just "falls" during transit. This table is incredible, and for the price, you can't beat it. I have no belt issues (I don't have the acrylic platter). My question is: Is the cartridge upgrade for the extra $80 worth it? I'm thinking about going for it. FueledByVinyl
andrewlucas
Put a little flour on the belt and it doesn't slip anymore. the only thing is now it's slow to start up. The first few seconds of each side are in slow motion while it builds. Haha. So flour helps, too much flour and it doesn't grab right. If anyone is going to do it don't dip the belt in flour. Just put some on your finger and rub it down the whole belt. Then shake it a little. Haha.
jase
You should give the platter a gentle spin before turning it on. It will help the belt last a little longer. And it'll be up to speed a lot faster
andrewlucas
Yeah. I figured I should do that to help it.

jdtg
Does anyone know if the belts from music hall (7.1, 9.1) or pro-ject (essential, 1.3, 5.1, 9.2) turntables are compatible with the orbit?
alogical
Ordered mine the other day! Can't wait. I'm looking at a TC750 preamp, what should I do for speakers?
FueledByVinyl
Ordered mine the other day! Can't wait. I'm looking at a TC750 preamp, what should I do for speakers? I'd recommend these, they're the ones I'm buying and they were recommended on the 'hi-fi guide' forum: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008NCD2LG/ref=redir_mdp_mobile
alogical
Damn those look nice! I love the black wood grain, actually exactly what I'm looking for. I still need an amp/receiver though, right?
slinch
Yes. Or, you can find a pair of powered speaker to avoid having to purchase a separate amplifier. A great budget option is Audioengine A2: http://www.amazon.com/Audioengine-Premium-Powered-Desktop-Speakers/dp/B000VKEFN2/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1388769841&sr=8-4&keywords=audioengine+a2 Or a slightly more sophisticated pair (this is a really good price by the way): http://www.theaudioinsider.com/product_info.php?products_id=

I suggest getting your amp and preamp through amazon (my personal choices): Amp: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001PNOH2I Preamp: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000AJR482
ntslash
Does the Orbit come with a dust cover? It looks like they sell them separately. Many of the images show the Orbit without the dust cover. If I have to pay $40 extra to buy a dust cover, then I am going with Pro-Ject Carbon for sure.
