i bought one once. everything was great.

then after about a week it smelled horribly like BO. like a thousand locker rooms and armpits and sweaty balls. as the laptop got hotter, it was cooking the scent.

besides, looking back, how many times had that guy wanked it and got drippings on screen and keys?

think about that when buying a phone on ebay. people take dumps now with their phones.

no thanks.

Never buying a used electronic again. People poop and porn with anything wifi enabled.

Good thing this laptop I'm trying to get isn't for me.

Benign is the word you're looking for.

Anyone know what a high blood platelet count may mean? My doctor's office called me earlier and said mine was high and that I have a vitamin d deficiency. I'm not sure if I should be worried or not.

I have information on this!  I was diagnosed with the opposite condition in 2005 (too few platelets).  It really depends on how high your platelet count is, how long they've been elevated, and if the count is escalating.  If your doctor just called you and told you without asking you to come in for a follow up or for another script for blood work then I wouldn't worry about it.

With that said, ultimately your platelet count directly effects the thickness of your blood.  (Charlie was also correct about your body trying to fight something, but if that were the case, your White Blood Cell count would also be elevated.  This would show up on the same blood test, called a CBC, that your platelet count showed up on, so if your white count is OK, then you are probably infection-free.)  So basically, the higher the number, the thicker the blood.  In extreme circumstances this can be life threatening.  High blood pressure and smoking can increase your risks.  If you want to feel safe, you can take some blood thinners (no more than once a day unless your doctor says otherwise) like motrin/ibuprofen.  Try to stay stress free so your blood pressure isn't risen for any extended amount of time, and if you smoke, please don't.

I hope everything is okay, though!  Let me know if you have any questions/concerns.  I've been in remission since 2006, but I still deal with my condition everyday so I know a lot about it and it's counterpart.

I figured it had to do something with thickening the blood, since I know platelets are what cause the blood to clot. I quit smoking around a year ago, and my blood pressure was sort of high on my last visit (my doctor thought it was due to stress from my anxiety). Well, I'll certainly try my best to lower my stress level until I see my doctor and see what he wants me to do. It's going to be hard since I worry a lot about stuff and suffer from anxiety issues. Thanks for the response.

Edit: I missed the first paragraph somehow. He wants me to get the blood work done again, and I already have an appointment next week for a follow up on anxiety medicine I was supposed to take.

I totally understand the anxiety issues.  Did your Doctor give you a number?  Taking the Motrin might help settle your anxiety and your worrying feelings about the situation.

I have needed mine out for 2 years. Long story short, I had insurance, was in extreme pain... went to the ER and found out I have very large gallstones. Lost my insurance a few weeks later, and still have large gallstones. Say goodbye to fatty fried foods, and hello to shots of apple cider vinegar. Hope you get it out soon and all is well!

The idea of going to a hospital, being diagnosed with a problem, then not having enough money so you getting a procedure to fix your problem is so messed up to me. The idea of paying money for each healthcare visit is so foreign to me. I'd probably have run my parents into the poor house if my parents had to pay for all my hospital visits.

I was referred to a psychiatrist, but it is $160 a visit, so I canceled. He put me on Lexapro, but that is also $100 a month, so I asked him to find me something I can get cheap in generic form. I'll find out next week if he knows of anything, which he better, since it'll be $85 just for that visit. Damn expensive health crap without insurance.

i'm on celexa, well, really, generic citalopram. lexapro is just like, the "important" molecule isolated, so i have to take twice as much but i went from $50/month to $10.

i also worked out an agreement with my shrink where i come for half the time and pay her half the price in cash. but i've been seeing her for like 4 years now.

I made grilled cheese, I was proud

I just noticed your avatar. When I was a wee greek lad I always used to go into the cupboards and basically anywhere that my parents wouldn't want me to be (as do all kids). Well, one day my parents decided to buy these really cheap butterfly decorations/magnets and stick them on the cupboards, etc. Well, I never went into the cupboards again. I was terrified of those things for some reason.

I think Citalopram was one of the ones the pharmacist recommenced me to ask him about when I was asking about lexapro prices.

definitely ask about it. as i understand it, the lexapro molecule or whatever you want to call it was isolated so the pharma company could keep making money when celexa went generic. i've never noticed a difference.

The worst part is that Obamacare/The Affordable Health Care Act makes it even harder. It's great that it is taking away everything regarding pre-conditioned issues. But now I am forced (even though the penalty doesn't seem that bad) to buy a health insurance plan starting at $250 a month that carries a $6,500 deductible (that a lot of doctors are going to want upfront).

I haven't read THAT much into how Canada does their health care, I believe you pay extra taxes at end of the year if you have a medical issue, or something along those lines? It seems like a pretty great theory though overall.

Things you love that your significant other mostly doesn't give a shit about? And GO.

On my side: Stand-up comedy. Records. Going to shows. Beer.

On his side: Video games. The desire to own and consume an entire cheese wheel. Video games.

Just kidding about the cheese wheel. Yes please.

this could have been your first thread. a good one too.
