kk-downing
I have read on other boards that sending records to Germany has been taking obscenely long lately. No clue.

somber_silt
sometimes it takes several weeks for a package from the US to arrive here in Germany. furthermore, you have to consider the latest holidays. what do the notes say on the returned packages? flood
one of them just has stickers in german all over it.. to the point where i can't even read who it was addressed to
apeman
That's really weird. I'm in a neighbouring country to Germany, and packages from the US usually get to me within four to ten days at the moment.
tittus
I've had a few records go in and out of Germany in the past few months. The latest one was a 7" that took 6 weeks to get here. I have no clue what that was about. Heres to hoping the one I shipped made it there safely.
sjb2k1
never had a problem sending them there but the last record i was supposed to get never showed up

oojavaguru
I have read on other boards that sending records to Germany has been taking obscenely long lately. No clue. Which boards are you referring to? Just need to document this, as I have 2 packages I sent to Germany on 11/28 that still haven't arrived and I want to see what others are saying, in case I get a Paypal claim or something else. spoonbill
if its not marked as merchandise, it's going to sit in customs for a long ass time. not sure what the hold up is if its marked as merchandise. seems like they all eventually get there it just takes forever. 213041284s
I'd imagine the holidays and other issues that can arise from international shipping factor into this dilema. I mailed to France a while ago and took over a month to get there, but it made it thankfully.

Hopefully Sasan will chime in. We've done some trades, I ship Int'l First Class (I'm in US and he in Germany) takes 10 to 14 days. You've got to do it just right on the customs form, can't recall off the top of my head, but get this American citizens.... He says they open his mail, inspect it, and then call him when it's ready to pick up -- worse than the IRS/ nothing 'sneaking' into DE w/out the right Euro taxes/tariffs/customs or whatever. gunnio
I did some successful trades with forum users in the past. Everything worked well. All orders from the US have been delivered aswell. Always make sure the package is fully trackable when sending (www.dhl.de or www.usps.com)!!

larsensteiner
I have easily received more than 50 packages last year and did not have any issues until lately. Some packages I have been waiting for over six weeks now and they still have not arrived. Kind of annoying, but I still have hope they all turn up sooner or later... McNeder
It's definitely not a customs issue. A friend of mine sent me a record (she's in Germany, I'm in Austria - roughly 150 km apart) and it took about 3 weeks to get to me. 2-5 days would be normal. flood
yeah im about to add Germany to the "will not ship there" list because im waiting on getting hit by about $300in ebay chargebacks because their post office can't get their shit together. spoonbill
Always make sure the package is fully trackable when sending (www.dhl.de or www.usps.com)!! because everyone can afford to spend $30 to ship a single lp.
deadreckoning
I have traded with a guy in Germany a few times. He sends me records, i get them in a week or so, no problem. My records always take much, much, much longer. I mailed a LP an 2 7"s out on the Dec 19th. Hopefully, they arrive some time this month. Wasn't Germany supposed to be the model for Post Office privatization? So much for german efficiency...
The Vool
Well, it's strange sometimes...There are times where I receive LPs from the US within 8-10 days, sometimes it takes 6 damn weeks...normally, when the package isn't caught by customs (you'll always be on the safe side with declaring a value of $10-20! I ran into sooooo many problems with "merchandise" and a f*cking invoice inside!), the package arrives pretty quickly at its destination...Last year, there were at least 80 records from the US arriving here...only one has not (still not sure if it has been shipped at all!)! Strangely enough, I ordered a few LPs at the end of November from NORWAY which still haven't arrived, while the Beatles box set ordered from Popmarket (placed December, 26!) arrived today!Too be honest, I don't think there is anything more reliable than German Post! When stuff doesn't arrive, it's either stuck at customs or got lost before hitting German ground!Basically, you can't explain the whole thing...
